Position Overview:

FlexGen is seeking a Project Manager to join its operations organization. Reporting to the Director of Project Management, this position is responsible for leading the successful execution of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects from contract execution through commercial operation while driving consistent project execution across the organization.

 

The Project Manager serves as the primary integrator across Engineering, Systems Engineering, Applications Engineering, Software Integration, Supply Chain, Construction, Commissioning, Commercial, and Customer teams. This role ensures projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with customer commitments while promoting standardized project governance and execution methodologies.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the successful execution of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects from contract execution through commercial operation, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, budget, and customer satisfaction
  • Serve as the primary cross-functional leader, coordinating Engineering, Systems Engineering, Applications Engineering, Software Integration, Supply Chain, Field Operations, Commissioning, Commercial, and Customer teams throughout the project lifecycle
  • Develop and execute integrated project plans, including scope, schedule, budget, resource planning, risk management, and change control
  • Drive PMO governance by implementing standardized project management methodologies, reporting, stage-gate reviews, and executive project communications across assigned projects
  • Lead customer, executive, and cross-functional project reviews, proactively identifying risks, resolving issues, and driving timely decision-making
  • Ensure alignment between commercial commitments, engineering deliverables, operational readiness, procurement activities, and customer expectations to achieve successful project outcomes
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives by capturing lessons learned, improving project execution processes, and promoting best practices across the PMO organization
  • Build strong relationships with customers, EPC partners, OEMs, and internal stakeholders while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and execution excellence

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Business, or a related technical discipline
  • Ability to utilize AI-driven tools and workflows to streamline processes, automate tasks, and improve overall performance
  • Minimum of 5 years of project management experience leading complex engineering, EPC, energy, or industrial infrastructure projects through the full project lifecycle
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams in a matrix organization while managing scope, schedule, budget, risk, and customer commitments
  • Strong understanding of project governance, project controls, commercial contracts, risk management, and standardized project management methodologies; PMP certification preferred
  • Experience with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), utility-scale energy projects, renewable energy, or related power infrastructure, with willingness to travel 10–20%
  • Willingness to travel (10-20%)
