Description

The Mobile Service Technician is responsible for safely diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining commercial trucks and trailers at customer locations. This position requires strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills, excellent customer service, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Technicians are expected to represent Kerry Brothers professionally while providing efficient, high-quality repairs that minimize customer downtime.

Essential Responsibilities

• Respond to scheduled service calls and emergency roadside breakdowns
• Perform diagnostics on diesel engines, electrical systems, brakes, suspension, and air systems
• Complete preventative maintenance services including oil changes, lubrication, filters, and fluid services
• Perform DOT inspections and document findings
• Diagnose and repair charging and starting systems
• Repair lighting, wiring, and electrical faults
• Diagnose and repair air brake systems
• Repair suspension and steering components
• Perform wheel end repairs including hubs, bearings, seals, and brake components
• Replace belts, hoses, water pumps, alternators, starters, batteries, and other engine accessories
• Perform minor hydraulic and PTO repairs
• Complete trailer repairs including lighting, air leaks, brakes, and suspension
• Utilize OEM diagnostic software and scan tools
• Accurately document repairs, labor, and parts used
• Maintain inventory and cleanliness of assigned service truck
• Communicate repair recommendations and equipment conditions with customers and service advisors
• Follow all DOT, OSHA, and company safety procedures
• Deliver professional customer service while representing Kerry Brothers in the field

Position Overview

The ideal Mobile Service Technician is self-motivated, organized, and comfortable working independently in a variety of environments. This individual possesses strong troubleshooting skills, communicates effectively with customers, and takes pride in delivering quality repairs the first time.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of heavy-duty truck, trailer, or diesel repair experience preferred
• Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills
• Experience with diesel engines, air brake systems, suspension, and electrical systems
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
• Ability to obtain or maintain a CDL (preferred)
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
• Basic computer skills for completing electronic repair orders
• Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions

Preferred Qualifications

• ASE Medium/Heavy Truck Certifications
• State of Michigan Certifications
• CDL Class A or B
• Experience with Cummins INSITE, Allison DOC, Detroit DiagnosticLink, or similar OEM software
• Welding and fabrication experience
• Hydraulic and PTO system experience
• Trailer repair experience
• Roadside service experience
• DOT inspection certification
