Your Next Opportunity:

Job Overview:

We are hiring an Engineering Team Lead to lead a small team of engineers in Pune building the MoxiWorks / ActivePipe platform — a Ruby on Rails service plus PHP integrations and Kafka-driven ETL pipelines that ingest millions of MLS, contact, and identity records every day. You will set technical direction, raise the engineering bar, stay hands-on to write code and review designs on the highest-leverage parts of the system.

You will partner closely with Product, Design, Global engineering leadership, and adjacent MoxiWorks teams to translate roadmap into well-scoped engineering work that thousands of brokerages depend on every day.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the architecture and technical direction of the ActivePipe Ruby on Rails platform, ETL pipelines, and PHP integration services.
• Drive design reviews and RFCs on Kafka topology, ETL idempotency, GraphQL evolution, and cross-product data contracts.
• Stay hands-on — contribute code, review the hard PRs, and debug the gnarly incidents (roughly 30–40% of your time).
• Set and enforce engineering standards: RSpec coverage, Rubocop, observability via Datadog, deployment hygiene via Buildkite, and on-call quality.
• Coach mid-level engineers into seniors and seniors into staff-track contributors; run a healthy interview loop and onboarding plan.
• Run sprint planning, backlog grooming, retrospectives, and quarterly OKR planning aligned with MoxiWorks engineering rituals.
• Partner with Product, Design, and Platform stakeholders to translate roadmap into well-scoped engineering work; own delivery commitments — estimation accuracy, scope discipline, and on-time releases.
• Represent ActivePipe Engineering in cross-team initiatives across the broader MoxiWorks technology org and in collaborations with global engineering leadership.
• Drive incident response and post-incident learning; own the on-call posture and reliability of the platform.

Required Skills

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, including at least 2 years leading a team of 3+ engineers (tech lead, or staff engineer with people leverage).
• Deep Ruby on Rails background — you have shipped, scaled, and rescued non-trivial Rails systems in production.
• Strong systems thinking — distributed systems, event-driven architecture, ETL / data pipelines, and SQL at scale.
• Hands-on Kafka (or equivalent streaming platform) and Sidekiq (or equivalent background processing).
• Solid experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs; familiarity with GraphQL is a strong plus.
• Working knowledge of relational databases (MySQL or PostgreSQL), including schema design, indexing, query optimization, and migration safety at scale.
• Track record of mentoring engineers, conducting fair code reviews, and running healthy hiring loops.
• Excellent written communication — design docs, PR descriptions, incident write-ups, and clear async updates with global teammates.
• Comfortable operating in a multi-team, cross-product organization with stakeholders in multiple time zones.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to Have

• Real estate, MLS, CRM, MarTech, or other high-volume data-driven SaaS domain experience.
• Familiarity with real estate data standards (RESO Data Dictionary, RESO Web API, RETS).
• GraphQL schema stewardship across multiple consumers; exposure to schema federation.
• AWS infrastructure literacy — ability to read Terraform, debug an ECS deployment, or reason about RDS performance.
• Prior experience contributing to or owning observability and SRE practices (Datadog, on-call rotations, SLOs).
• Experience leading a polyglot team — specifically Ruby + PHP, or Ruby + JVM/Go.
