The Nassau County District Attorney's Office investigates and prosecutes violations of state and local criminal statutes occurring within Nassau County. With nearly 200 attorneys and a total staff in excess of 400, the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office is one of the largest district attorney's offices in the country. Description
The Nassau County District Attorney’s Office is currently seeking experienced, practicing attorneys for its Investigations Division in the following bureaus:
Narcotics, Firearms & Gangs Bureau: focuses on the investigation, prosecution and dismantling of major narcotics enterprises, firearms traffickers, and gang organizations.
Organized Crime & Rackets Bureau: investigates and prosecutes complex and systematic criminal activity committed by organized crime and criminal enterprises. The Bureau's cases include enterprise corruption, extortion, coercion, loansharking, gambling, money laundering, unlicensed money remitting, bribery, pattern burglaries, and trademark counterfeiting.
Major Financial Frauds Bureau (MFFB): conducts long-term investigations and prosecutes complex financial schemes. The specially trained assistant district attorneys, investigative auditors and investigators focus their efforts on cases such as the financial exploitation of our senior citizens; identity theft; advance fee frauds; investment scams such as Ponzi schemes; real estate and deed fraud; attorney misappropriation of escrow funds; embezzlement from both large corporations and small businesses; bank, check and credit card fraud rings; New York State tax fraud, and crimes against Nassau County's workforce, such as worker's compensation fraud, wage theft, and construction fraud. The MFFB also prosecutes illegal dumping, storage and transportation of hazardous materials and other environmental crimes.
