POSITION SUMMARY
The CCMA is responsible for working under the direction of Ilanka Community Health Center (ICHC) providers to provide exceptional patient care. This position performs a variety of routine work within established policies and procedures, and according to approved privileges. ICHC promotes a team-based approach to care.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
· Interview and accurately record patient’s medical, dietary, and social history, with special attention to patient’s past due or upcoming preventative recommendations.
· Accurately document and coordinate patient care activities in electronic health records, including accurate scanning and ensuring only appropriate release of information.
· Repeat patient concerns and relay physician directions both on the phone and in person.
· Administer approved medications as allowed within State of Alaska regulations and under provider’s direction.
· Process prescription refill requests.
· Assist the provider in procedures and treatments, anticipating necessary equipment and supplies.
· Administer vaccines, and single dose medications via following routes: oral, subcutaneous, intradermal, intramuscular, and intranasal.
· Performs laboratory testing and associated activities (e.g., specimen collection and processing, QC, maintenance, etc.)
· Acquires and maintains laboratory competencies under the direction of laboratory supervisor.
· Autoclave instruments, process laundry, and maintain MSDS, as needed.
· Maintain, prepare, and stock exam rooms daily, following established procedures for infection control.
· Practice safety and follow clinic protocols and OSHA regulations when handling and disposing of biohazard waste and non-biohazard waste.
· Monitor janitorial services for clinical areas, reporting non-compliance to administration.
· Monitor and order janitorial supplies.
· Maintain supply room.
· Order clinical supplies based on needs, with prompt receiving and follow-up for missing items.
· Maintain an organized, clean work area free of clutter.
· Participate and contribute to a team-based environment
· Maintain knowledge of and follow established policies and procedures in the clinic and laboratory.
· Participate in quality assurance, quality improvement, and training activities.
· Participate in risk management strategies, with emphasis on proactive identification and reporting of potential risk situations.
· Maintain a high level of confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and HITECH regulations, which includes only accessing appropriate information needed to perform job duties.
· Supports and facilitates positive communication with others as evidenced by professional maturity, respect for others, a team-centered approach, maintenance of confidential information and an appreciation of a variety of viewpoints and diversity in the workplace.
· Maintain a neat, clean, and professional appearance.
· Attend emergency preparedness training, responding to emergency situations within clinic as well as participate in clinic response when assisting local hospital or city Incident Management Team in an emergency event.
· Participates in community-wide health care activities such as health fairs as well as NVE hosted events which may be outside regular hours.
· Other duties as assigned.

· Immediately reports unsafe conditions, hazards, or injuries to HR or the designated safety contact.
· Attends all mandatory special events, meetings, and trainings.

EDUCATION
Required:
· High School Diploma or Equivalent.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Preferred:
· 1 year or more experience as a CCMA in a clinical setting.
CERTIFICATES / CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSES
Required:
· Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain an insurable driving record in accordance with the company’s auto insurance policy requirements.
Required:
· Certified Clinical Medical Assistant certification from an accredited certification body.
· Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR pro certification at or within 2 months of hire.
Preferred:
· Phlebotomy certification
