About the role:

As a Product Introduction Support Technician, you will be part of Octasic’s hardware engineering team. The person in this role participates in the assembly, modification, and validation of prototypes to ensure they meet engineering requirements and documentation. You will report to the Hardware Team Lead.

What you'll do:

  • Assemble wiring harnesses for prototyping activities;
  • Perform soldering of SMT components as well as wires intended for harnesses;
  • Carry out initial mechanical assemblies of new products based on assembly drawings;
  • Maintain the inventory of materials used for prototypes;
  • Track modifications made to electronic boards using serial numbers;
  • Determine the appropriate methods for applying modifications to printed circuit boards (PCBs);
  • Contribute to the documentation of electronic board rework and modifications (cut & jump);
  • Support production teams by sharing assembly details for new products;
  • Communicate improvement opportunities identified during prototyping and assembly activities to engineering teams;
  • Perform tests in accordance with qualification plans established by engineering.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role;
  • Proficiency in mechanical assembly techniques and the use of fastening tools;
  • Ability to read and interpret electronic PCB schematics;
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring and harness drawings;
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and wiring diagrams;
  • Ability to track multiple modifications across different prototypes (serial number, change number, software version, etc.);
  • Ability to perform electronics testing (RF testing is an asset);
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team;
  • Functional proficiency in French and English, both spoken and written, in order to communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
