Prime Data Centers

Regional Training Engineer (Critical Facilities)

About Prime Data Centers

Prime Data Centers develops, acquires, and operates data centers for some of the world's largest enterprises. A private firm owned by a group controlling $6 billion in assets, with a 15-year tenure in technology and real estate development, Prime provides customers with ownership options and dynamic leasing models, defining a true corporate partnership.

About the role

Prime Data Centers is seeking a Regional Training Engineer to execute and deliver hands-on training programs across an assigned region of Prime's growing hyperscale and AI-ready data center portfolio. Reporting to the Director, Technical Training and Development, this role serves as the on-the-ground extension of Prime's training organization — translating the curriculum, standards, and certification pathways the Director establishes into consistent, high-quality training delivery at every site in the region, partnering closely with the Director to stand up and continuously improve Prime's training program from the ground up.

This is a hands-on, field-facing role for someone who wants to build something early, not administer a program that already runs itself. You'll spend the majority of your time on the data center floor and in the classroom with technicians, not behind a desk.

What you'll do

Regional Training Engineers are the primary link between Prime's training standards and the technicians executing MOPs, SOPs, and EOPs on the floor every day. This role ensures Prime's training program isn't just well-designed at headquarters — it's delivered consistently, tracked accurately, and improved continuously at every site in the region.

The insight this role brings back from the field — what's working, what's confusing, what technicians are struggling with — directly shapes how the Director, Technical Training and Development evolves the program company-wide. In many ways, this role is the feedback loop that keeps the entire training program honest and grounded in real site conditions.

Responsibilities

Regional Training Delivery

● Deliver classroom, hands-on, and on-the-job training across all sites in the region, following the curriculum and standards set by the Director, Technical Training and Development.

● Execute new-hire onboarding and procedural proficiency training tied to each site's MOP, SOP, and EOP library.

● Coordinate training schedules with Site Directors, Critical Facility Managers, and Chief Engineers to minimize operational disruption.

Curriculum & Certification Management

● Pilot new curriculum, provide field feedback, and adapt materials to site-specific equipment without compromising standardization.

● Administer certification checkpoints and maintain accurate, audit-ready training records in the LMS for every site in the region.

● Own site-level compliance currency — including CPR, First Aid, and NFPA 70E — coordinating with local site teams on routine audits and progress tracking.

Train-the-Trainer & Cross-Functional Support

● Identify, coach, and certify Chief Engineers and Critical Facility Managers as in-house instructors, co-delivering sessions to maintain consistency.

● Serve as the regional point of contact for training questions from site leadership, EHS, and HR.

Reporting & Continuous Improvement

● Report regional training KPIs and escalate gaps to the Director, Technical Training and Development with supporting data.

● Use incident post-mortems and redline data from regional sites to recommend curriculum updates.

● Support new-site readiness and training mobilization as Prime's regional footprint expands.

Qualifications

Required

● 5+ years of experience in critical facilities, data center operations, or mission-critical industrial environments.

● Experience delivering technical training, mentoring, or on-the-job coaching in an operational environment.

● Working knowledge of critical facility electrical and mechanical systems (UPS, switchgear, generators, chillers, CRAH/CRAC, BMS/EPMS).

● Comfortable delivering both classroom and hands-on, floor-based training.

● Strong communication and facilitation skills; ability to train technicians across varying experience levels.

● Highly organized, with the discipline to keep certification and compliance records accurate and audit-ready.

● Comfortable operating with evolving priorities as the training program is being built out.

● Willingness and ability to travel 20–40% of the time within the assigned region, including overnight travel.

Preferred

● Prior experience as a Critical Operating Technician, Chief Engineer, or similar critical facilities role, with a track record of mentoring or informally training others.

● Experience at a colocation, hyperscale, or wholesale data center operator.

● CDCP® or CDCS® certification (or actively working toward one), or an NFPA 70E qualified trainer credential.

● Experience administering or using a Learning Management System (LMS).

● Experience supporting AI-ready or high-density computing environments.

● Current CPR/First Aid instructor certification, or willingness to obtain one shortly after hire.

Leadership

● Hands-on mindset with a genuine passion for teaching and developing others.

● Strong attention to detail and follow-through on certification and compliance tracking.

● Comfortable delivering direct feedback and holding technicians accountable to standards.

● Adaptable across sites, equipment, and regional teams.

● Collaborative team player who represents the Training & Development organization well in the field.

● Motivated by seeing technicians grow, advance, and succeed.

● Reliable and self-directed when working across multiple sites with minimal day-to-day supervision.

Why Prime

● Join Prime's Training & Development organization at a foundational stage and help shape it from the ground up.

● Work closely with the Director, Technical Training and Development on a program built to become an industry leader.

● Gain exposure to Prime's rapidly expanding hyperscale and AI-ready portfolio.

● Build a career path toward regional or enterprise training leadership as Prime scales.
