QE Solar

Business Development Associate - Barre, MA

About QE Solar

QE Solar is one of the nation's largest independent solar and BESS operations and maintenance providers, with over 15 years of operating experience. We manage 10 GW of solar and 7.5 GWh of BESS across 44 states, supporting asset owners with multi-hundred MW utility solar projects and large standalone BESS systems. We're pure-play O&M. That focus means our entire organization is built around one thing: keeping solar and storage assets running well. Our technicians carry broad OEM certifications, and our in-house capabilities span MV/HV electrical, vegetation management, engineering, and capital improvements, to streamline asset management for project owners.

The Business Development Associate is responsible for advancing additional work opportunities identified by field teams, operations personnel, and client representatives. This individual will review identified work items, confirm the required scope, develop pricing, prepare proposals, and communicate directly with clients to secure authorization.

The position serves as a key connection between field operations, estimating, management, and the client. The ideal candidate will have a technical understanding of vegetation management, herbicide applications, and minor civil or site-repair work, along with strong communication, organization, and follow-up skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review additional work opportunities identified by field teams, site inspectors, operations managers, and clients.
  • Evaluate photographs, inspection reports, field notes, measurements, and other supporting information to confirm the proposed scope of work.
  • Develop accurate pricing for vegetation management, herbicide applications, civil repairs, drainage improvements, erosion repairs, access-road work, and related site services.
  • Prepare clear, professional proposals that define the scope, pricing, exclusions, assumptions, and anticipated schedule.
  • Contact clients to present recommendations, explain pricing, answer technical questions, and obtain approval.
  • Maintain consistent follow-up on outstanding proposals and client decisions.
  • Track opportunities from initial identification through pricing, client approval, scheduling, and completion.
  • Communicate approved work internally to operations, scheduling, procurement, accounting, and field leadership.
  • Ensure internal teams understand the approved scope, pricing, client expectations, and required completion timeline.
  • Coordinate with field personnel to resolve scope questions and obtain any additional information needed for pricing.
  • Maintain accurate records of client communications, proposal status, approvals, and next steps.
  • Identify opportunities to expand existing client relationships and introduce additional services.
  • Assist with change orders, supplemental work requests, and other client-driven service needs.
  • Provide regular updates to management regarding the opportunity pipeline, outstanding proposals, expected revenue, and potential obstacles.

Required Knowledge and Experience

  • Working knowledge of vegetation-management planning and field operations.
  • Understanding of herbicide application methods, labor requirements, equipment, materials, and pricing.
  • Familiarity with civil and site-repair workflows, including drainage, erosion control, access-road repairs, grading, stone installation, and stormwater-related work.
  • Ability to interpret inspection reports, photographs, measurements, maps, plans, and field documentation.
  • Experience developing scopes of work, estimates, proposals, or change orders.
  • Strong understanding of labor, equipment, material, mobilization, and production costs.
  • Technical or operational background in vegetation management, solar-site maintenance, construction, civil work, landscaping, or a related field is strongly preferred.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Clear and professional written and verbal communication.
  • Strong client-service and relationship-management skills.
  • Excellent follow-up, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple opportunities and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Confidence discussing technical recommendations and pricing with clients.
  • Ability to communicate effectively between clients, field personnel, and internal management.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to clarify incomplete or conflicting field information.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and proposal or CRM tracking systems.
