Marketing Specialist

Recompose is an ecological death care company and green funeral home specializing in the service of human composting that transforms bodies into soil. We are seeking a proactive, collaborative, and highly organized Marketing Specialist to join our mission-driven team. In this role, you’ll be at the heart of all things marketing for a company working to shift the death care paradigm. You’ll report to the Marketing Director and collaborate closely with a talented team of end-of-life professionals.

 

The Marketing Specialist is an individual contributor role with meaningful ownership and accountability. You’ll ensure our marketing engine runs smoothly day-to-day while also contributing ideas and insights to marketing strategy and campaigns. This is a hybrid role requiring 2+ days per week in our Seattle facility.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Growth Marketing (35%)

Support demand generation and category growth through coordinated digital marketing efforts.

  • Project manage digital campaigns from concept through launch, including coordinating creative production, setup, and performance tracking across platforms and CRM
  • Craft content for email campaigns and lead nurture initiatives
  • Refresh campaign content on a regular cadence to maintain relevance and performance
  • Monitor performance and surface insights to support optimization and decision-making

Content Marketing & Management (35%)

Own the creation, organization, and performance of marketing content and materials.

  • Maintain and execute an editorial calendar across social, email, and web articles
  • Create new website articles designed to educate audiences and drive interest
  • Develop written and visual content for a highly engaged social media audience
  • Capture and organize imagery, testimonials, and content opportunities across the organization
  • Report on content performance and recommend improvements
  • Monitor and respond to reviews across platforms such as Google My Business

Media & Outreach (20%)

Collaborate with outreach, pre-planning, and leadership to identify and implement high-impact brand awareness strategies.

  • Manage inbound media requests and coordinate interviews and responses
  • Ensure sales and outreach teams have the marketing materials needed to promote the business
  • Conduct targeted outreach to pre-planning prospects and community partners (hospice, senior living, care facilities) to drive engagement through tours, presentations, and events
  • Support in-person and virtual tours
  • Attend and support community and member events as needed

Marketing Operations & Internal Communications (10%)

Help maintain strong internal systems and a seamless brand experience.

  • Maintain an organized, up-to-date library and inventory of marketing assets, both in digital and physical formats
  • Document processes, track expenses, and compile recurring performance reports
  • Make basic website content and image updates
  • Support updates to key documents, communications, and marketing materials
  • Help ensure the Seattle facility’s lobby and visitor experience are welcoming, educational, and on-brand
  • Manage the operations and growth of the online storefront

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • 1+ years of marketing or communications experience
  • Ability to commute to our Seattle facility 2+ days per week
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Demonstrated initiative, ownership mindset, and proactive approach
  • Familiarity with marketing fundamentals and best practices
  • Eagerness to expand your marketing skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or a related field

 

Preferred:

  • Experience with marketing tools such as Zoho, WordPress, Canva, Google Analytics, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar platforms
  • Comfort learning new technology and systems quickly
  • An eye for design and ability to create marketing collateral

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The person in this position will perform the essential function of the position primarily in an office type of environment which may require sitting/standing at a desk, as well as interacting with technology (computer, phone), for most of the day.

 

This is a hybrid position: Must have reliable access to a quiet space to work in when outside the office and reliable transportation to office.

 

SALARY RANGE AND BENEFIT INFORMATION

Expected starting range: $65,000 - $72,000, paid hourly. This position is full time, non-exempt and eligible for overtime.
