About the role

We’re looking for a Part-Time Pro Shop Associate to join our team at the Selkirk Pro Shop in Coeur d’Alene. If you love pickleball, enjoy helping people, and want to be part of a growing local community, this could be a great fit.

You’ll help customers find the right paddles, apparel, and accessories for their game, run on-court demos, and lead beginner clinics. More than just a retail position, this is an opportunity to help people discover pickleball, improve their game, and feel connected to the local playing community.

This is an entry-level role. We’ll train you on our products, store processes, and how to run on-court demos and lead our beginner clinics.

Schedule

This position is approximately 15 to 20 hours per week, with Saturdays (10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) required and additional shifts on Fridays and/or Mondays. Opportunities to pick up occasional weekday shifts may also be available.

What you’ll do

• Welcome customers and help them choose gear that fits their playing style and skill level
• Run point-of-sale transactions and handle cash accurately
• Keep the shop clean, stocked, and looking its best
• Run on-court paddle demos and show customers basic techniques so they can feel the difference for themselves
• Lead beginner-friendly pickleball clinics covering basic shots, rules, and court etiquette
• Assist with opening and closing duties, restocking, and seasonal floor sets
• Represent Selkirk at local clinics, tournaments, and community events
• Share upcoming store events with local players, clubs, and facilities

What we’re looking for

• You enjoy playing pickleball or are enthusiastic about learning the game and becoming confident sharing it with others
• You’re friendly, outgoing, and enjoy making people feel welcome
• You’re dependable and available on Saturdays
• You have some experience helping customers or working with people, whether through retail, hospitality, food service, or volunteer work

Nice to have

• You’re already active in the local pickleball scene and know the area’s courts, leagues, and open play
• Experience with POS systems, cash handling, or restocking
• Experience coaching or teaching pickleball, or working in sports retail

Physical requirements

This is an active role that involves standing and moving around the shop for extended periods, regularly lifting and moving items up to 40 lbs (with help or equipment as needed), and occasionally working outdoors at events and demos.
