SUMMARY OF POSITION:       

Support level position, working under indirect supervision of an experienced hands on technician for heavy equipment. May have supervisory duties over projects or personnel. On-site electrically minded mechanic to repair, maintain, rehab, and upgrade Sperry systems on across vehicle fleet. Shop based with up to 50% travel to perform urgent repairs.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

·         Follow company safety policies in both the shop and the field.

·         Repair and maintain field vehicles, Rail bound, HI Rail and related equipment/ components, perform field order repairs, inspection, adjustments and troubleshoots maintenance issues.

·         Report/record the condition of vehicles. (Audits)

·         Fabrication and modification of new or existing equipment when required.

·   Ensure, vehicle & equipment meets safety and quality compliance standards, participate in safety, health and environmental programs.

·         Performs maintenance related special projects as required.

·         Ensure all work is completed in a timely and efficient manner.

·         Perform vehicle audits and log work orders.

·         Work under limited supervision following procedures to complete assigned tasks

·         Diagnose and repair controls systems, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems and electrical repairs.

·         Dynamic component repairs and routine maintenance

·         Generator repairs and maintenance

·         Responding to service calls and emergency breakdowns

·         Maintain clean workspace and monitor inventory levels to ensure adequate resources to perform required tasks

·         Conduct routine safety checks on all vehicles and equipment

·         Identifies and completes repairs identified on Vehicle audits

 

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC/NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Other duties as assigned with or without accommodation.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

·         Education: High School Diploma/GED

·         2 years electrical experience

·         2 years truck mechanical experience

·         Ability to read wiring diagrams and assembly drawings

·         Mechanical experience with work equipment, heavy trucks 

·         Participate in after hours on call rotation

·   Skills/Competencies: Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

·  Maintain a relationship with the customer and follow up on all customer complaints. Always maintain a professional and positive attitude toward employees and customers.

·  Preferred: Commercial Driver’s License (CDL B) or equivalent

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Reports to Assigned facility. 

Travel for maintenance related issues can require up to 50 % travel.

Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.  Report any safety violations or fault conditions to supervisor.
