About the role

This role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day financial operations while ensuring accurate reporting, regulatory compliance, and strong internal controls. Key responsibilities include preparing and analyzing financial statements, supporting budgeting and forecasting efforts, managing accounts payable and receivable activities, and providing financial analysis to support business decisions. The position also maintains the general ledger, assists with audits, ensures compliance with tax regulations, and develops and enforces financial policies and procedures. Working closely with leaders across the organization, this individual provides financial insights, identifies opportunities for process improvements, and supports the company's overall financial health and strategic goals.

What you'll do

  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the development and management of the company's annual budget and financial forecasts. Monitor budget performance and provide recommendations for cost optimization.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making, including variance analysis, cost control, and profitability assessments. Identify trends, potential risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable: Oversee the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions. Ensure timely processing of vendor payments and monitor customer collections.
  • General Ledger Management: Maintain the general ledger, reconciling accounts, and resolving discrepancies. Perform month-end and year-end closing procedures.
  • Tax Compliance: Prepare and submit accurate and timely tax returns, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations. Stay up-to-date with tax law changes and advise on tax planning strategies.
  • Audit Support: Assist in the coordination of financial audits by external auditors. Prepare audit schedules and respond to auditor inquiries.
  • Financial Systems: Manage and optimize financial systems and accounting software, ensuring data accuracy and efficient workflow.
  • Financial Policy and Procedure Development: Develop, implement, and enforce financial policies and procedures to ensure internal controls and compliance.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers, procurement, and senior management, to provide financial insights and support decision-making.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as an accountant, with a minimum of 2 years in a senior accounting role.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and tax regulations.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
