Southwest Accessory Group

Transportation & Logistics Coordinator

Position Summary

The Logistics Coordinator supports the effective management and continuous improvement of SWAG’s transportation and logistics network, with primary responsibility for Less-Than-Truckload (LTL), Parcel, and third-party logistics (3PL) providers.

This role supports transportation sourcing, carrier and provider performance, freight cost management, service execution, reporting, and continuous improvement. The Logistics Coordinator serves as a key liaison between SWAG’s transportation partners and internal stakeholders, including Customer Service, Distribution Operations, Finance, and other business functions.

The successful candidate will be highly organized and analytical, comfortable managing external transportation partners, and capable of taking ownership of logistics issues from identification through resolution.

Key Responsibilities

Carrier & 3PL Management

  • Serve as a primary day-to-day point of contact for designated LTL carriers, Parcel providers, and 3PL partners.
  • Monitor provider performance against established service expectations, pricing agreements, and contractual requirements.
  • Establish, maintain, and report key transportation performance metrics and provider scorecards.
  • Participate in regular business and performance reviews with transportation providers.
  • Identify performance deficiencies and coordinate corrective action plans with providers when service levels fall below expectations.
  • Assist with the onboarding, implementation, and transition of new carriers, Parcel providers, and 3PL partners.

Transportation Cost & Contract Management

  • Monitor transportation spend, freight charges, fuel surcharges, accessorial charges, and other associated logistics costs.
  • Review and approve transportation invoices in accordance with established authorization procedures.
  • Research and challenge billing discrepancies against contracted rates, terms, and service agreements.
  • Maintain carrier agreements, contracts, pricing schedules, service guides, and related transportation documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve transportation service while controlling or reducing costs.

Sourcing & RFP Support

  • Compile bid requirements, coordinate provider responses, and analyze pricing and service proposals.
  • Develop comparative analyses and present findings and recommendations to management.
  • Support contract negotiations, provider selection, implementation, and transition activities.

Service & Issue Resolution

  • Serve as a primary escalation point for transportation-related issues raised by Customer Service, Distribution Operations, and other internal stakeholders.
  • Coordinate directly with LTL carriers, Parcel providers, and 3PL partners to expedite resolution of service failures, capacity constraints, claims, damages, billing issues, and other transportation concerns.
  • Own escalated logistics issues through resolution, rather than simply transferring responsibility to an external provider.
  • Communicate status, resolution, and corrective actions to appropriate internal stakeholders.
  • Identify recurring service issues and work with providers and internal teams to determine and address root causes.

Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • Develop and maintain transportation reporting and key performance indicators, including metrics related to cost, service, claims, damages, delivery performance, and provider performance.
  • Analyze transportation data to identify trends, exceptions, and improvement opportunities.
  • Support implementation of new transportation processes, systems, providers, and operational improvements.
  • Partner cross-functionally to improve transportation efficiency, service reliability, and customer experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Operations, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
  • 2–5 years of experience in transportation, logistics, supply chain, distribution, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience working with LTL carriers, Parcel providers, and/or 3PL partners strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting transportation RFPs, bid analysis, carrier sourcing, or contract negotiations highly desirable.
  • Working knowledge of transportation pricing concepts, including freight rates, fuel surcharges, accessorial charges, dimensional weight, and service levels.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret transportation data, identify trends, and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills required.
  • Experience with ERP, WMS, TMS, Parcel shipping platforms, business intelligence tools, or transportation reporting systems preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively with external providers and internal stakeholders.
