Field Manager – Landscape Maintenance


Full-Time | Permanent | $65,000–$75,000/year


At Horizon Contracting Group, great landscapes start with great teams. We’re looking for an experienced Field Manager to lead our landscape maintenance teams, ensuring our crews have the support, training, and direction they need to deliver exceptional work.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys being in the field, developing people, solving problems, and making sure our clients and sites receive the highest level of service.

 

What You’ll Do


Field Leadership & Quality

  • Oversee daily field operations and assign goals and priorities to crews
  • Ensure maintenance work meets Horizon’s quality standards and contract requirements
  • Conduct regular site visits and quality control inspections
  • Support monthly planning and ensure crews are meeting schedules and expectations
  • Address labour, scheduling, and site concerns as they arise

Team Development

  • Lead daily morning meetings and regular crew communications
  • Train and onboard new Foremen and field staff
  • Support performance reviews, coaching, and disciplinary processes
  • Assign and follow up on training and development opportunities
  • Create a positive, supportive, and accountable team environment

Client & Operations Support

  • Maintain regular communication with clients and address site concerns
  • Provide updates on site progress and expectations
  • Support communication between field teams and management
  • Ensure reporting, site photos, forms, and documentation are completed accurately
  • Oversee vehicle, equipment, and inventory condition and ensure required inspections are completed

 

What You’ll Bring

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in the landscape industry
  • 2+ years of supervisory or leadership experience
  • Experience driving a truck and trailer
  • Strong understanding of landscape maintenance, contract scopes, and specifications
  • Ability to read landscape drawings
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and relationship-building skills
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office, Adobe PDF, iPhone applications, payroll software, and iPads
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • A natural ability to coach, lead, and bring out the best in others

Post-secondary education in an industry-related field and certifications such as Red Seal, CHT, CLM, ISA, Heavy Trailer Endorsement, or Fall Protection are considered assets.

 

Compensation & Benefits

  • $65,000–$75,000 annual salary based on experience
  • 20 days paid time off (15 vacation + 5 sick days)
  • Extended health, dental and vision after 90 days
  • RRSP matching after 1 year

  • Company tech package including laptop and cell phone/tablet

 

Work Environment

This role combines office and field work. You’ll spend time in the field, supporting crews and visiting sites, as well as completing planning, reporting, training, and administrative work in the office.
