Sales & Marketing Specialist (Farmers Helping Farmers)

About Tend

Tend is building the operating system for modern farms. Our farm management platform helps growers plan crops, coordinate teams, track inputs, manage compliance, record harvests, and understand their business in one connected system.

We believe farmers deserve technology that is as practical, adaptable, and hardworking as they are. Tend is designed in close partnership with growers to simplify day-to-day operations, reduce paperwork, and turn farm data into better decisions.

Our goal is to help farms become more efficient, resilient, and profitable while supporting the people who grow our food and care for the land.

Tend is part of Livewild (dba Spiraledge, Inc.), a family of brands helping people move, grow, and live well.

The Role

Tend is growing fast, and we need someone who can move fluidly between sales support and marketing execution in the same week. This role is built to help our Sales team scale outreach as Tend continues to grow.

This role is primarily focused on supporting our sales team, spending the majority of your time on sales activities like demos and trial support, with the remainder on marketing efforts. That balance shifts further toward sales during our fall/winter peak season. Primarily remote and virtual, with occasional travel possible for trade shows or industry events.

This role reports directly to the Head of Sales and works closely with the Sales and Customer Success team.

This role is ideal for: someone who communicates well and connects easily with people, has worked in agriculture, is skilled at creating marketing content, and wants to help farmers succeed.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Demo Support

  • Outreach and Engagement: Connect with prospective growers, ranging from farms to nurseries and other growing operations, introducing them to Tend through live product demos.
  • Trial Support: Guide new users through learning the software and understanding Tend's core features.
  • Conversions: Help growers transition from free accounts to paid plans by connecting Tend's features to their operational needs.
  • Retention Efforts: Support long-term success for users, proactively addressing concerns and helping growers get more value out of Tend.
  • Collaboration: Work with Tend's Sales, Customer Success, and Product teams to share feedback and improve the customer experience.

Marketing & Campaigns

  • Social Media: Grow Tend's social media presence, including content planning, posting, and community engagement.
  • Email Campaigns: Help shape and manage segmented email marketing campaigns, including onboarding sequences, win-back/re-engagement flows, and messaging tailored to specific user groups, geographic regions, or feature usage.
  • Brand Voice: Channel Tend's brand voice across marketing channels, ensuring campaigns, social content, and customer communications sound consistently like Tend
  • Storytelling: Tell authentic customer stories, through case studies, testimonials, and social content, that show how real growers use Tend.
  • Paid Advertising: Contribute to paid advertising efforts (paid social and search) to help grow reach and generate new leads.

Qualifications

  • Farming Background & Passion for Agriculture: Experience with farming or the agriculture industry strongly preferred, along with genuine enthusiasm for the industry, since it directly shapes how we speak to our customers.
  • Project Ownership: Experience personally overseeing projects, whether through formal management, running your own operation, or leading initiatives independently.
  • Presentation Comfort: Confident presenting and holding real-time conversations with customers, whether that experience comes from past sales, teaching, training, customer support, or public speaking.
  • Marketing Experience: Experience running email campaigns and managing social media; familiarity with platforms like Mailchimp, Intercom, HubSpot, or Klaviyo is a plus, along with exposure to paid advertising, ideally with a SaaS, agriculture, or small-business audience.
  • Tend Familiarity: Experience using Tend, or a similar farm management platform, is a plus; if not, you'll need to become a confident user quickly.
  • Design Comfort: Able to put together clean, simple visuals for campaigns
  • Communication Skills: Excellent writing and storytelling ability, with the skill to communicate in a genuine, farmer-to-farmer tone rather than corporate or generic marketing-speak.
  • Tech Savvy: Comfortable using or learning how to utilize AI tools across your day-to-day work, from campaigns and content to communications and general productivity, and quick to pick up new software.
  • Spanish Language: Proficiency in Spanish preferred, not required.

Farming background, strong communication and organizational skills matter more to us than experience with any particular software; we're glad to train the right person on our specific tools and workflows. Even if you don’t meet all of the qualifications, we still encourage you to apply.
