AIRO is developing the next generation of advanced General Aviation Avionics systems that will bring new levels of Functionality, Usability, Integration and Value to existing and new aircraft for a broad spectrum of General Aviation aircraft. AIRO is offering a unique opportunity to join a highly focused and motivated team of engineers in defining, designing, and implementing these advanced systems.

Position Overview


AIRO is seeking a Systems Engineer to support the Aspen Avionics General Aviation avionics product line. This position contributes to the system architecture and design of Aspen's next generation of avionics, helping carry products from concept through certification. The Systems Engineer will bring a focus on functionality, usability, integration, and value to every stage of the design process, ensuring that each product is commercially competitive, clearly differentiated, and built around the needs of the pilots who use it.


Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the System Architecture, System and Software Requirements as well as Verification and Validation of avionics products.
  • Interface with marketing, sales, and field support to assess needs for new capabilities and product improvements for existing and new customers.
  • Coordinate with software, hardware, mechanical, and test engineering teams to ensure seamless integration and traceability across the development lifecycle.
  • Interface with external organizations to enable the Integration of Aspen products with equipment supplied by other companies.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering processes, tools, and best practices.
  • Prepare and present technical briefings and design documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Perform other duties as requested by the VP of Engineering.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, required.
  • 10+ years of engineering experience in the design of embedded systems, including at least one technical lead role.
  • Strong Technical and Communication skills.
  • Project Management and Leadership Skills.
  • Ability to work in diverse, cross-functional teams.
  • Good understanding of aircraft and avionics operation.
  • Experience in avionics system design and FAA certification processes, including ARP4754, ARP4761, DO-178C standards.
  • Private Pilot experience is desirable.

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, required.
  • Technical certificate, associate degree, military electronics training, or equivalent hands-on electronics experience preferred

·Ability to bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, and lift as required by the position

·Ability to safely lift, carry, push, or pull objects within the requirements of the position

·Ability to perform the visual, auditory, and communication requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of the position

·Ability to work safely in the physical and environmental conditions applicable to the position
