Careers at Torus

Fabrication Manufacturing Production Supervisor

About Torus

Torus is headquartered in Utah and is expanding manufacturing at our 545,000-square-foot facility in Salt Lake City called GigaOne. Our mission is to build the world’s first mesh energy infrastructure — built to unite people and communities through resilient, secure, and intelligent power. We design, engineer, manufacture, install, and support our systems end-to-end, standing behind them throughout their lifecycle. Torus systems help reduce costs, lower emissions, and protect facilities from outages, while strengthening the security and reliability of the broader utility grid. Torus is committed to American manufacturing, engineering excellence, and building energy systems that last.

Torus has raised over $267 million from investors like Magnetar, Mercado, ICONIQ and Origin Ventures. The investments are helping to accelerate deployment of modular power plants across utilities, data centers, and industrial sectors. This investor confidence reflects the strength of our team, technology as well as the scale of the problem we are solving.

At Torus, you will be part of something larger than a single product or technology. Your work will help build energy infrastructure that supports and strengthens our electrical grid, critical  systems, industry, and communities for decades to come. We value accountability, collaboration, and clear thinking. We are looking for people who want to solve hard problems and build things that matter.

About the Role

The Fabrication Production Supervisor is a hands-on, floor-present leadership role. Reporting directly to the Fabrication Manufacturing Production Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing shift-level fabrication operations supporting Torus’s Flywheel Energy Storage Systems (FESS) and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).  This role requires a technically astute leader with strong roots in a metal manufacturing environment. You will not just manage schedules; you will possess the practical working knowledge required to troubleshoot machinery, guide operators, and ensure maximum precision and throughput across our advanced sheet metal and plate fabrication equipment.

Who You Are

  • A Metal Manufacturing Expert: You have deep, practical roots in high-precision metal fabrication, laser cutting, and forming environments.
  • Hands-on & Floor-Present: You lead from the production floor, not from behind a desk, and are ready to stand side-by-side with your team to solve technical issues.
  • Safety-First Leader: You believe a safe workplace is a productive workplace and rigidly uphold safety protocols on the floor.
  • A Coach & Mentor: You take pride in cross-training personnel and elevating the technical skills of your team.

Responsibilities

  • Production Execution: Oversee daily fabrication activities to meet strict output targets, quality standards, and delivery schedules. Communicate shift priorities clearly across teams.
  • Technical Equipment Oversight: Serve as the primary floor resource to support, guide, and troubleshoot operations on key production machinery, including:
    • Tube Laser: BLM Group ADIGE Laser Tube LT7
    • Manual Press Brakes: BLM Group Pro Bend E-Series (260-100 and 260-150)
    • Automatic Panel Bender: Prima Power Express Bender (EBe2726 and EBe2226)
    • Plate Laser: BLM Group ADIGE-SYS LS7Team
    • Welding Department: Oversee and support production welding operations
  • Management & Development: Lead, develop, and mentor a team of fabrication technicians, CNC operators, and setup personnel. Drive onboarding, cross-training, and performance evaluations.
  • Quality Assurance: Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Engineering to ensure all fabricated components meet tight tolerances, engineering drawings, and GD&T requirements.
  • Safety & Compliance: Champion a culture of safety. Ensure absolute compliance with OSHA regulations, company PPE requirements, and machine safeguarding.
  • Continuous Improvement: Apply lean manufacturing principles to minimize setup scrap, optimize material nesting/yields, and reduce cycle times.

Required Experience

  • Education: High school diploma/GED with extensive experience; an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a technical or engineering field is a plus.
  • Experience: 3+ years of experience in a heavy metal manufacturing or fabrication environment, with proven experience in a supervisory or team lead capacity.
  • Equipment Knowledge: Demonstrated operational or strong supervisory familiarity with CNC laser cutting (tube/plate) and precision forming equipment (manual press brakes and/or automatic panel benders).
  • Technical Skills: Strong ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings, blueprints, specifications, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Systems: Familiarity with ERP systems (NetSuite preferred) and basic digital workspaces (Google Workspace/MS Office).
  • Safety: Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and manufacturing safety best practices.

Preferred Experience

  • Direct programming, setup, or operational experience with BLM Group or Prima Power machinery.
  • Experience in energy storage, heavy industrial equipment, automotive, or aerospace manufacturing.
  • Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt or similar continuous improvement certifications.
