Role Overview

As a Sr. Staff Software Engineer, you will be responsible for researching, developing, and integrating state-of-the-art computer vision technologies for spine surgery.

You will develop innovative software solutions for image registration, calibration, tracking, segmentation, general application software, user interfaces, and other surgical navigation capabilities.

Working in a multidisciplinary environment, you will play a key role in developing accurate, reliable, and intuitive technologies that support spine surgeons and improve patient outcomes.



Key Responsibilities

Software Development & Medical Devices

  • Develop software for medical devices, including embedded and PC-based systems, supporting registration, surgical navigation, tracking, and related system capabilities
  • Research and develop innovative technologies for surgical navigation and computer vision applications
  • Plan, prioritize, and execute software development activities to meet project milestones and timelines
  • Develop and maintain software design documentation

Testing & Quality

  • Investigate and resolve software bugs and user complaints
  • Create unit tests for your work and collaborate with team members on integration testing
  • Maintain high standards of software quality through strong software engineering practices

Multidisciplinary Collaboration

  • Work closely with teams across optics, mechanics, electronics, and other engineering disciplines to develop complex medical device systems
  • Support colleagues, share technical knowledge, and contribute beyond assigned responsibilities
  • Contribute to the development and protection of company intellectual property

Innovation & Problem Solving

  • Learn and apply new technologies, tools, and codebases independently to solve technical challenges
  • Apply a creative and resourceful approach to problem solving
  • Prioritize, execute, and manage multiple assignments effectively in a fast-paced environment

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
  • Graduate degree in an engineering discipline preferred
  • 6+ years of software development experience required; 8 years preferred, with demonstrated experience developing and delivering production software
  • Strong proficiency in Modern C++
  • Experience developing software for Android and Linux platforms
  • Experience developing software for embedded devices
  • Experience with performance-critical and/or real-time software
  • Experience with Qt and Qt Creator preferred
  • Experience in 2D/3D Computer Vision and/or Image Processing preferred
  • Experience with Jira and Jenkins preferred
  • Strong team-oriented mindset, with a willingness to support colleagues, share technical knowledge, and contribute beyond assigned responsibilities
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies, tools, and codebases independently
  • Creative and resourceful approach to solving technical challenges
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to travel approximately 10%

Compensation:

Pay for this role is competitive and based on experience, with qualifications and performance considered.

This position is based in Israel and includes travel of approximately 10%.

VB Spine reserves the right to offer compensation outside of any listed range.

Final compensation is determined on a case-by-case basis and considers factors such as experience level, skill set, and market conditions.
