About the role

The Payor Relations Assistant Director manages a team that ensures all the new and existing clients are enrolled/credentialed/Join In-Network with insurance carriers within a timely manner. The Payor Relations Assistant Director aims to lead the goal of maximization of cash flow for Zealie and Clientele by enrolling them with payers. Directly supervising the Payor Relations Managers and Team Leads, and overseeing the supervision of the Payor Relations Specialists, the position requires strong managerial, leadership and business office skills, including critical thinking, project management, and the ability to produce and present detailed payor relations task reports. May also assist in client relationship building and other daily activities when needed to ensure deadlines are met.

What you'll do

  • Lead the Payor Relations Team
  • Ensure Managers, Team Leads, SMEs and Specialists are meeting expectations and continually developing their expertise
  • Implement policy and procedures to meet client and work flow goals
  • Ensure SOPs are in place for every type of request and regularly reviewed for relevancy.
  • Lead the coordination efforts with internal departments and clients
  • Lead internal and client meetings, ensuring consistent and productive communications across the organizational structure
  • Review and resolve any high level task and/or escalation from your team, supervisor, and/or client
  • Provide reports as needed to clients, cross-functional teams and upper management
  • Lead the Payor Relations onboarding efforts for new clients
  • Hire and help managers on your team execute the training of new employees
  • Perform additional duties as requested by direct supervisor and/or management

Qualifications

  • 6–8+ years of experience in provider credentialing and payer enrollment operations
  • 5+ years of experience specifically within Behavioral Health (BH) and Mental Health (MH) credentialing and contracting
  • Ability to work independently, problem-solve effectively, and collaborate cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong knowledge of in-network payer contracting processes, including online and manual submission workflows
  • Experience managing credentialing, contracting, ERA/EFT enrollment, and payer portal operations across multiple payers and states
  • Familiarity with credentialing guidelines and payer requirements in CA, AZ, TX, FL, NJ, CO, and HI
  • Experience working within behavioral health billing, revenue cycle management, or healthcare operations environments
  • Proven leadership experience in a senior credentialing, team lead, assistant manager, or operations management role
  • Experience managing high-volume workflows across 30+ clients and supervising teams of 20+ FTEs
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple complex priorities simultaneously
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including professional phone and email correspondence
  • Proficiency navigating credentialing platforms, insurance portals, payer systems, and healthcare technology tools
  • Advanced knowledge of CAQH management, provider enrollment maintenance, demographic updates, and payer compliance processes

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree degree in any stream
  • A Master’s degree or higher is preferred.
  • 6+ years work experience in Credentialing process
  • Minimum 4+ years of experience in BH & MH Credentialing process
