About Fragile
Fragile is redefining how hardware is built, consumed, and distributed. From risk modeling to consumer experiences, we're building the infrastructure that powers the hardware industry.
We're a small, high-talent-density team based in San Francisco and New York. We work across disciplines, reason deeply, move with urgency, and build for the real world. Backed by Khosla Ventures, Lightspeed, and Benchmark, we partner with category-leading consumer hardware brands like Eight Sleep, Anker, and NZXT to create new ways for consumers to access hardware, giving people the flexibility to experience products on their own terms.
As we prepare for the next phase of growth, we're hiring a Controller to build and lead our accounting function. This role will own the financial backbone of a business that spans subscription billing, device procurement, and reverse logistics, among other areas of Fragile’s operations, and will be critical to ensuring we operate with the rigor and speed that our business demands.
What You Will Do
- Own day-to-day accounting operations. Maintain the general ledger, manage revenue recognition and other core accounting workflows, and ensure the data and supporting inputs underlying the company’s financial statements are complete, accurate, and timely.
- Build the processes and controls. Design and implement the accounting infrastructure, workflows, and internal controls needed to support a rapidly scaling company operating across multiple merchant partnerships simultaneously.
- Bring structure to a high-volume, operationally intense environment. Translate a dense array of financial activity, including subscription billing, device procurement, and depreciation into clean, auditable financials.
- Partner cross-functionally with legal, finance, engineering, and operations. Report into legal department and work closely across teams to ensure purchase orders, transaction data, inventory activity, and other accounting inputs are accurately captured and reflected in the company’s books and financial statements.
- Prepare the company for audit readiness and compliance. Interface with external accounting and audit partners to support financial reviews, SOC compliance, and the reporting rigor expected as the company scales into its next stage.
- Shape the accounting team. You'll help define the function's roadmap and eventually build a team reporting to you.
- Own and evolve the company's in-house ledger. Work closely with engineering to ensure the ledger accurately reflects our subscription and billing workflows.

- Comfortable operating hands-on today while building toward a team and system that can support the company at significantly greater scale
- Thrives in high-ownership, fast-paced environments where speed and precision both matter
Nice to Have
