About the role

Free Market Health (the “Company”), a cloud-based healthcare technology platform provider, is hiring a full-time experienced attorney to provide legal support and guidance relating to health care regulatory, privacy, technology and contracts matters. Reporting to the CAO, the AGC will provide guidance in maintaining compliance with government laws and regulations, as well as the Company’s policies and standards. You will initiate negotiations, handle complex drafting, approvals and ongoing monitoring of the Company’s contractual agreements to maximize business relationships and opportunities. This position is highly collaborative and will work with our product development, technology and growth/business development teams.

What you'll do

The AGC will provide written and oral advice directly to executive management and/or their designees in complex and rapidly evolving areas of the law; analyze and provide legal guidance on a wide range of regulatory, contractual and operational matters, including the interpretation and implementation of legislation; provide clear, succinct, and actionable written advice to key executive stakeholders that reflects full understanding of the pertinent operations and legal landscape.

• Contract Drafting and Negotiation: Advice and counsel to executive management on contractual matters, including issues arising from alliances and partnerships with third party payers, pharmaceutical manufacturers, pharmacies and PBMs; Strategic analysis of available alternatives and associated legal risks; Drafts, analyzes, and negotiates contracts and complex agreements; and Represents the Company in disputes and/or negotiations arising from contractual relationships and/or performance.
• Strategic Legal Counseling: In collaboration with the CAO, assists in development of business strategies within legal constraints.
• External Representation: Represents the Company’s legal interests by interfacing with opposing counsel; Supports clients in managing communications with external parties in areas of conflict; and, Represents the Company on legal issues arising from regulatory investigations, subpoenas, or external audits.

Education & Licensure: A law degree and licensed to practice under at least one state bar.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum of seven years’ experience as an attorney working in health care contracting required.
• Familiarity with reimbursement and payment methodologies, health care regulations, privacy and technology.
• Demonstrated expertise in advising clients in a complex regulatory environment.
• Demonstrated leadership as an individual contributor within a legal department or other organization.

Salary Range

The estimated salary range for this role is $170,000-200,000. At Free Market Health, salary ranges are determined based on a combination of factors including industry benchmarks, geographic location, job responsibilities, and the experience and skills required for the role. We regularly review market data to ensure our compensation remains competitive and equitable. Individual pay within the posted range may vary depending on a candidate’s qualifications, experience, and internal equity with other team members in similar roles.
