About the role
As part of the Data Engineering team under Technology Services at Free Market Health, the Data Engineer will be responsible for helping to implement, grow, and optimize our data and data pipeline architecture. As part of a growing team in a face-paced start-up environment, we are looking for a Data Engineer that will contribute directly to key design and development decisions, and who has an ability to manage a full data lifecycle, including intake, staging, analytics, and delivery.
What you'll do
The specific responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to:
- Create and maintain optimized data architecture.
- Identify and implement automation of manual processes, optimized data delivery, and designed architecture plans focused on scalability and user accessibility.
- Build analytics tools that utilize the data pipeline to provide actionable insights to be incorporated into Free Market Health applications and used internally for business development.
- Work with the Cloud Architecture team and other stakeholders to ensure the ongoing security and confidentiality of sensitive healthcare information.
- Work with the Executive, Product, Engineering and Design teams to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs.
- Work onsite in our Pittsburgh Headquarters in a collaborative team.
What we need from you
- 4+ years’ experience managing data and data solutions
- Advanced working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases.
- Strong analytic skills related to working with structured and unstructured datasets.
- Build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency and workload management.
- Working knowledge of message queuing, stream processing, and scalable data stores.
- Experience with the following tool/databases/technologies:
- Databricks / Delta Lake, dbt/dbt Cloud
- Healthcare technology experience with medical and pharmacy claims handling/processing is preferred
- Ability to work within a team and communicate effectively
