Position Summary
The Assistant Store Manager plays a vital role in supporting the Store Manager with daily operations, ensuring the store runs smoothly and efficiently. This person will lead by example, helping to foster a Christ-centered work environment while assisting with staff support, volunteer coordination, inventory flow, merchandising, and customer service. The Assistant Manager will serve as acting manager in the Store Manager’s absence.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Support
· Assist in daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures
· Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment throughout the store
· Ensure consistent intake, sorting, and pricing of donations
Staff & Volunteer Support
· Provide day-to-day direction and support to staff and volunteers
· Help train new team members and maintain store schedule
· Promote a positive, Christ-centered team culture
Customer Service & Donor Engagement
· Deliver excellent customer service and uphold store values in all interactions
· Assist donors with drop-offs and provide donation receipts when needed
· Address and resolve customer concerns in a professional and kind manner
Merchandising & Inventory
· Help restock, organize, and rotate inventory to maintain an appealing sales floor
· Ensure items are attractively displayed and properly priced
· Support seasonal and promotional setups
Financial & Administrative Support
· Assist with daily cash handling and financial reporting procedures
· Monitor sales trends and share input with Store Manager to improve store performance
Qualifications
· Passion for ministry and service to others
· Retail or customer service experience (thrift store or nonprofit setting preferred)
· Ability to take initiative and work independently
· Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
· Team-oriented with a servant-hearted leadership style
· Basic computer and point-of-sale (POS) system skills
· Ability to lift and move items as needed (up to 50 lbs.)
