HR Benefits Coordinator

SUMMARY: The benefits coordinator is responsible for managing and administering employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, life insurance, dental and vision plans, by overseeing employee enrollment, addressing benefit questions, ensuring compliance with regulations, and communicating benefit details to employees during open enrollment periods. The Benefits Coordinator should prioritize and manage multiple issues while maintaining the outstanding level of service our employees expect from Flooring Services, LLC.

Essential Job Functions

  • Processing employee benefit enrollments, changes, terminations, and beneficiary updates across various plans. 
  • Coordinating open enrollment periods, providing information to employees, and assisting with plan selection. 
  • Assisting employees with benefit claims, including verifying billing accuracy and following up on issues. 
  • Ensuring adherence to federal and state regulations regarding employee benefits, including HIPAA, COBRA, and ERISA. 
  • Developing and distributing benefit information materials, conducting employee benefit presentations, and providing training on plan features. 
  • Maintaining relationships with insurance carriers and benefit plan providers. 
  • Updating and maintaining accurate employee benefit records. 
  • Monitoring benefit plan costs and identifying potential cost-saving strategies. 
  • Answering employee questions about benefits, resolving issues, and providing guidance on plan options. 

Additional Responsibilities and Requirements

  • Comply with company policies and procedures and local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Interact in a tactful, diplomatic, and professional, manner with employees, clients/vendors, supervisors, and co-workers to provide a safe, efficient, and positive experience and quality service.
  • Maintain a dependable attendance record.
  • Any additional duties assigned by management.                                                                         

Qualifications, Education, and Experience

  • Strong understanding of employee benefits plans, including health insurance, retirement plans, and flexible spending accounts 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with employees and explain complex benefit information 
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage data and maintain accurate records 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and benefit administration software 
  • Knowledge of relevant employment laws and regulations related to employee benefits

Required:

  • Minimum one year of experience in HR and/or benefits administration.

Preferred:

  • Two years of experience in HR and/or benefits administration.
  • Associate’s degree in human resources or related field of study.
  • Certified Employee Benefits or Human Resources credential.

Working Conditions

  • Quiet office setting.

Cognitive and Physical Demands:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting, computer work, screen time, keyboarding, typing, wrist flexing/extension and other repetitive movements.
  • Daily/consistent: Use of professional judgement in alignment with Flooring Services, LLC. values and policies, ability to communicate effectively verbally and written, translate high level instructions into an executable process flow, and to complete medium to large projects with minimal assistance and supervision.
  • Frequently: Learning new software applications and recalling important processes.
  • Occasionally: kneeling, standing, reaching, twisting, grasping, and lifting (up to 20 pounds).
