The Direct Store Sales Representative is a key member of the retail sales team responsible for field sales and retailer relationship management. This position is a commission-only contract, intended for experienced reps with an existing network of retail stores in the vape, tobacco and convince categories. The roles reports directly to VP of Business development.
The mission of the Direct Store Sales Representative is to help FÜM achieve its vision and mission by expanding the retail footprint of the Brand. This role is crucial in FÜM’s mission due to the fact that retailers play a critical role in helping up reach customers who want to quit smoking and vaping.
The responsibilities of the Direct Store Sales Representative:
Store Visits: Visit retailers in your local market to drive and awareness for FUM products, performance.
Product Demo: Demo FÜM products with retailer to drive consideration for carrying FÜM products in their retail stores.
New Store Sales: Brokers sales to new retail stores for FÜM products resulting in the collection of retailers information, and payment for inventory
Retailer Education: Set retailers up for success by ensuring their staff can effectively demo and sell FÜM products to their customers.
Retail Store Merchandising: Ensure retailers are setting their stores up for success by successfully merchandising FÜM products in accordance with Brand Standards.
Retailer Relationship Management: Communicate with retailers regularly to support performance and keep brand awareness high.
Retail Reordering: Expand SKU quantity and volume with retailers as they find success selling FÜM products resulting in orders and payments for their stores.
New Retail Store Opened: The number of new retailers who decide to carry our FÜM products each month.
Existing Retail Store Reorders: The revenue from existing retail stores who are re-ordering to expand and restock their inventory.
Sales Acumen: Demonstrated ability to drive sales, exceeding targets, and closing deals effectively. Strong understanding of sales methodologies (e.g., needs-based selling, consultative selling) and the ability to apply them in a retail environment.
Communication & Presentation Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to deliver engaging product demonstrations and presentations, build rapport with retailers, and effectively convey information.
Relationship Building: Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with retailers, fostering trust and long-term partnerships.
Merchandising & Visual Presentation: Knowledge of effective merchandising techniques and visual presentation standards to optimize product placement and brand visibility within retail stores.
Retailer Training & Education: Ability to effectively train retail staff on product knowledge, sales techniques, and brand messaging.
Organization & Time Management: Highly organized with strong time management skills to effectively plan and execute store visits, manage multiple accounts, and meet deadlines.
Problem-Solving & Negotiation: Ability to identify and address retailer challenges, negotiate effectively, and find mutually beneficial solutions.
Territory Management: Experience in managing a geographic territory, optimizing routes, and maximizing store visit efficiency.
This role is completely commission based. A direct store sales rep with an existing portfolio of retail stores and relationships will be able to successfully ramp FÜM into their business and generate $1000 - $5000 per month based on their performance. The average DSS makes $2500 per month.
