WHO WE ARE

The Global Alliance for Incinerator Alternatives (GAIA) is a global network working towards a just and waste-free world without incineration. GAIA’s mission is to catalyze a global shift towards environmental justice by strengthening grassroots social movements that advance solutions to waste and pollution. We envision a just, zero waste world built on respect for ecological limits and community rights, where people are free from the burden of toxic pollution, and resources are sustainably conserved, not burned or dumped.


THE ROLE

We are looking for an Work-Study Student to join our Global Services team.  The Digital Content & Internal Communications Work-Study will support projects related to the employee intranet on SharePoint and digital publications related to the department of People & Culture. We are excited to offer this opportunity to gain experience working at a non-profit and supporting a global team. This role is perfect for someone who is creative, organized, works independently and is tech savvy. 


Open to UC Berkeley Students. This role could have the potential to extend beyond the semester, depending on workload and availability of the intern. Come join us this semester!


 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Create and edit content for employee intranet sites or other related web
  • Design graphics for digital media including but not limited to booklets, pamphlets, templates and presentations using GAIA branding guidelines
  • Support change management communications for HR initiatives, benefits, policies, new hires etc.
  • Manage files and folders within the department shared drives ensuring data security and compliance with organizational policies

WHO YOU ARE

  • Current student at UC Berkeley
  • Business, Marketing, Journalism or Communications, IT/Computer Science field of study
  • Experience in Office 365 SharePoint, Google Drive and Canva
  • A passion for environmental health and climate, social, and environmental justice.
  • A commitment to GAIA’s mission and core values of: respecting local solutions and community power; shared practice for movement building; equity, inclusiveness, and social justice; and accountability

COMPENSATION, LOCATION, AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Salary ranges $20 per hour 10-15 hours/week
  • This fully remote role 
  • Work is performed both independently and collaboratively. Work is performed on a computer, requires almost constant use of a keyboard, mouse, or other pointing device and may be performed sitting or standing..
