Description


Academy for Young Minds (AYM) is seeking an experienced Assistant Teacher to join our team in one of our state-of- the-art classrooms in Long Island City, Queens. AYM is a private school for learners on the Autism Spectrum, ages 5-15 in classroom settings of 6-10 students. This is a full-time, 12-month school calendar position.


Under the supervision of the Head Teacher and the BCBA-D®, the Assistant Teacher will provide instruction to students and help implement individualized curricular activities for each student. This individual will also support student learning through data collection on programs and progress toward goals.


Required: New York State Teaching Assistant (TA) Certification

Desired Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience in teaching special education students (preferably using ABA methodology)
  • Understanding of the needs of students with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and/or other developmental disabilities
  • Knowledge of NYS Common Core Standards
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational and problem solving skills
  • Computer proficiency (e.g., data base, word processing, etc.)

The pay range for this role is:

32,000 - 42,000 USD per year (Queens LIC)
