Gersh Autism, a leading provider of education, therapy, and independent living skills to individuals on the autism spectrum, is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant to join their team. The primary purpose of the school Physical Therapist Assistant will be to work with students with disabilities and serious health impairments. The Physical Therapy Assistant is expected to work under the supervision of a physical therapist to carry out treatment plans, provide services, make environmental modifications and work with staff to manage physical needs.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Valid State NYS Physical Therapy Assistant license from the New York State Office of Professions (REQUIRED)
  • Associates degree from a CAPTE-accredited program
  • Peds experience highly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Sensory Processing and how to support regulation.  
  • Knowledge of CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Comfort with and willingness to use technology and computer-based documentation systems.

Working conditions

  • Must be able to lift 50lbs and more plus stand and sit for long periods of time

Schedule

  • 8:00AM-3:30PM (and once a week until 4PM for a team meeting)

The pay range for this role is:

65,000 - 80,000 USD per year (Queens Village)
