The Role
This is Glover's first Forward Deployed Engineering hire. Palantir pioneered the FDE model by embedding engineers directly into the world's hardest operational environments. We're bringing that philosophy to the world's hardest software modernization problem.
Your job will look like that of a startup CTO: small teams, end-to-end ownership, full autonomy. One day you're deep in a customer's COBOL codebase understanding their batch processing logic. The next you're architecting the integration between Glover's platform and the customer's CI/CD pipeline. The day after, you're presenting results to a CIO.
The difference between a demo and a production deployment is enormous — especially when the customer is a global bank with 40 million lines of mainframe code. You'll be the person who bridges that gap.
What You'll Do
- Embed directly with enterprise design partners — Fortune 1000 financial services, insurance, and government organizations — to deploy, configure, and integrate Glover's platform against real legacy codebases.
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for customer stakeholders, from hands-on engineers to product owners to senior IT leadership.
- Deeply understand each customer's legacy environment and translate that understanding into deployment strategies and platform configurations.
- Build custom integrations, tooling, and workflows connecting Glover's platform with customer infrastructure, source control, and development processes.
- Own customer outcomes end-to-end: success criteria, project plans, technical execution, and results — with minimal oversight.
- Feed field learnings directly back to product and engineering. Every deployment should make the next one faster.
- Represent Glover credibly with the largest companies in the world. You are not a support engineer — you are the face of our technology in the field.
Who You Are
- Strong software engineer first. You read, write, and debug production code across multiple languages and environments. You're comfortable in large, unfamiliar codebases.
- 5+ years of software engineering experience with meaningful exposure to enterprise or infrastructure-level systems. Legacy technology experience (mainframes, COBOL, JCL) is a strong plus but not required — eagerness to learn is.
- Experience in a customer-facing technical role — solutions engineering, technical consulting, FDE, or similar — with an understanding of how to balance customer needs with product constraints.
- Comfortable in regulated, high-stakes environments: banks, insurers, government agencies, or similar.
- Presence and communication skills to earn respect in a room with a CIO or a team of skeptical mainframe engineers — through substance, not slides.
- You thrive with ambiguity. There is no playbook for this role. You'll help write it.
- Deep sense of ownership. You don't wait for instructions.
- AI native. LLMs and agents are core tools in your engineering workflow.
Why This Role
- Founding FDE at a company building one of the most technically interesting products in enterprise AI.
- Direct engagement with C-suite executives and engineering leaders at the world's largest financial institutions and government agencies.
- More autonomy, ownership, and impact than you'd get at a company 100x our size.
- Founding-team equity and the chance to build a category-defining company from day one.
About Glover
Glover Labs is building the agentic platform for legacy software modernization. Fortune 1000 enterprises run mission-critical workloads on decades-old mainframe systems — COBOL, RPG, PL/I — processing trillions of dollars daily. These codebases are too complex, too sprawling, and too deeply embedded in regulated business processes for existing agentic coding tools to operate on safely. Glover's platform builds a holistic understanding of these legacy estates, delivers an objective assessment of the right path forward, and provides a spec-driven workflow that lets product owners and engineering teams modernize quickly, confidently, and with low risk. What used to require an 8-month, $800K systems integrator engagement to even assess — Glover delivers understanding in days and transformation outcomes in weeks.
We built Glover to meet the people who own these systems — product owners, business analysts, IT leaders — where they are, making modernization accessible to the decision makers, not just the engineers.
We're a small team by design — founded by three ex-Google engineers, backed by top-tier venture investors, and entering our deployment phase with enterprise design partners across financial services, insurance, and government.
We operate as AI natives. Every person at Glover uses AI tooling relentlessly to move fast, gain leverage, and create machines that create machines. We expect everyone who joins to share that orientation and push it further.
