About the role

The Electrician in Construction plays a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient installation and maintenance of electrical systems within construction projects. This role requires expertise in electrical work and the ability to perform construction-related tasks during downtime. What you'll do

Electrical Work:

  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, wiring, and equipment in accordance with local codes and safety regulations.
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues and provide effective solutions.
  • Collaborate with other construction and electrical team members to ensure seamless integration of electrical systems into the overall project.
  • Conduct electrical inspections to ensure compliance with quality standards.

Construction Tasks:

  • During downtime from electrical work, participate in construction activities such as framing, drywall installation, plumbing, or carpentry as assigned by the Superintendent.
  • Assist with the preparation and cleanup of construction sites.
  • Operate construction tools and equipment safely and effectively.

Safety Compliance:

  • Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Ensure that all electrical work is performed in compliance with local regulations and industry standards.
  • Report safety hazards or concerns to the Superintendent and Director of Electrical.

Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate records of all electrical work performed, including diagrams, blueprints, and maintenance logs.
  • Provide progress reports to the Superintendent and Director of Electrical as required.

Material Management:

  • Manage and track electrical materials and equipment, including ordering and restocking as needed.
  • Ensure proper storage and handling of electrical components to prevent damage.

Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with other construction trades and departments to facilitate effective project execution.
  • Communicate regularly with the Superintendent and Director of Electrical to ensure alignment with project goals.

Continuous Learning:

  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, technologies, and electrical codes through ongoing training and education.
  • Seek opportunities for professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1+ years of experience in electrical work, construction, or a related trade.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical systems, wiring methods, and common electrical tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints, wiring diagrams, and electrical schematics.
  • Understanding of job site safety practices and electrical safety standards.
  • Ability to follow local electrical codes and construction regulations.
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to work in a physically demanding construction environment.
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds, climb ladders, and work at heights as required on construction sites.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with electricians, supervisors, and other trades.
  • Reliable transportation to and from job sites.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Enrollment in or completion of an electrical apprenticeship program
  • OSHA 10 certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Experience assisting with installation, troubleshooting, or maintenance of electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with general construction tasks such as framing, drywall, carpentry, or general labor.
  • Experience using electrical testing equipment such as multimeters or voltage testers.

The pay range for this role is:

20 - 26 USD per hour (Buffalo, NY)
