Weekend RN - Hospice

Make a Difference When It Matters Most

At Good Samaritan Hospice, we consider it a sacred honor to walk alongside individuals and families during the end-of-life journey. We are seeking a compassionate, grounded, and skilled Weekend Registered Nurse to provide expert clinical care, guidance, and comfort during some of life’s most profound moments.

If you are looking for a role where your clinical expertise truly matters, where relationships are valued, and where you can see the impact of your care every day, this may be the perfect fit.

  • Provide on-call coverage as scheduled to ensure nursing services are available to Good Samaritan patients
  • Respond to patient and caregiver phone calls in a timely manner and provide support for identified needs
  • Respond to medical or emotional crises and patient deaths by making visits to the home or facility and providing direct care as appropriate
  • Complete scheduled after-hours visits to support RN Case Managers and meet patient care needs
  • Communicate with attending physicians, Good Samaritan staff, and other agencies to coordinate optimal patient care and resources
  • Educate patients and caregivers regarding hospice philosophy, disease progression, stages of dying, physical components of care, and the plan of care
  • Monitor and communicate changes in patient and caregiver status to the IDT
  • Reinforce patient and caregiver education through follow-up phone calls focused on pain, symptom management, and other identified needs
  • Complete accurate and timely documentation using electronic point-of-care systems and communicate a report to the IDT following each shift

  • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia
  • Minimum of two (2) years of nursing experience
