SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
The Manager, Process Engineering will be responsible for overseeing the development and optimization of production processes for new products, focusing on effectively and efficiently scaling up products from lab scale to full-scale production to meet our clients’ specifications and quality standards while meeting the company’s cost targets. Additionally, this position will oversee the design, development, CQV(Commissioning, Qualification, Validation), and commercialization, of all new proprietary & purchased equipment, support the launch of new products, and the implementation of new processes in Production.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS
- Lead the industrialization of new products from pilot to full-scale production
- Review the compounding processes and continually focus on bringing improvements to process, equipment and/or personnel
- Manage the technical aspect of product transfers within the facility, ensuring seamless integration and minimal disruption
- Identify and implement process innovations and improvements
- Expand the company’s capabilities in compounding and packaging operations with new equipment and/or compounding capabilities
- Serve as a technical expert on manufacturing lines and processes, developing a deep knowledge of all equipment and operations
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, R&D, Quality, and Engineering teams
- Support capital projects and equipment commissioning related to new product introductions in both factories
- Identify and analyze production data to identify trends, root causes, and innovative opportunities for improvement
- Create and improve process documentation. Experience with chemical processing and familiarity with industrial systems and equipment used in manufacturing or production environments
- Develop, analyze and optimize process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs)
- Work independently with a minimum of guidance to meet the company objectives
- Support loss reduction and eradication through the Lean Manufacturing process
- Lead process improvements through use of statistical analysis and modeling.
- Plans and directs all aspects of engineering activities and projects to support Goodkind Co. sales & profit goals. Work closely and effectively with cross functional teams across the organization and provide engineering & technical leadership.
- Ensures all engineering projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with Goodkind Co’s established policies and objectives, and are on time and within budget.
- Manages team to ensure GMP general safety policies and procedures are in compliance with local, state, and federal OSHA rules and regulations.
- Ensure all team members adhere to Goodkind Co’s safety policies and procedures.
- Responsible for the timeline, milestones, budget, design, development, CQV (Commissioning, Qualification, Validation), and commercialization of all new proprietary & purchased equipment. Support the launch of new products, and implementation of new processes in production.
- Lead & participate in productivity improvement & cost reduction projects to improve Production operations
DIMENSIONS, TASKS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Consults with the Vice President Operations and Senior Leadership Team and create long-range engineering goals specific to the needs of the organization
- Develops new equipment, products, & processes from concept to production, and released to production utilizing CQV process and meets project goals
- Implement Lean processes and cost reduction projects in manufacturing
- Creates, implements, tracks and reports Capital equipment projects with ROI tracking to ensure projects are on time and within budget, and ROI is achieved as projected
- Collaborates with the Sales department to determine potential for new products and processes
- Ensuring the facility satisfies all industry regulations
- Performs other related duties as required
CLASSIFICATION
This is a full-time exempt role.
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or similar degree required
- Master’s degree in Engineering or Business Administration preferred
- At least five years of related experience required
WORK EXPERIENCE
- Significant experience with hot/molten pour products, including but not limited to lipsticks, lip balms and deodorants, in particular the compounding of those products
- Experience with process engineering scale up operations
- Experience working in a GMP environment preferred
- 3+ years of managerial experience
- Strong problem solving abilities
- 3+ years’ experience in the manufacturing industry preferred
