GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB

To provide friendly, efficient, and accurate checkout for customers who have already selected their items and have been provided service by customer service personnel.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Be aware of customers as they enter the store and greet them promptly and courteously

Demonstrate friendliness and cheerfulness to customers and co-workers

Assist customers with loading and unloading

Promptly and courteously answer the phone calls and transfer them to the appropriate person or department

Be knowledgeable about product locations and product functions

Promptly call for additional cashiers when there are more than (3) people in line to check out

Maintain check stand and till in an organized manner

Count back change to customers with each transaction

Correct mistakes as they occur

Ensure adequate stock of supplies, such as register tape, security tape, bags and invoices

Fold plant-carrying flats when required

Prepare clothing for displays

Ensure soda cooler is stocked and rotated and that the candy, ice cream, and magazines are stocked and organized

Attend product, merchandising and cooperative meetings as requested

Uphold all cooperative policies

Perform other tasks and duties as required by supervising manager


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience


LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos

Ability to write simple correspondence

Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals

Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs


REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions

Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations

The pay range for this role is:

14.79 - 18.07 USD per hour (White City)
