Power Engineering Consultant

Gridsight is a rapidly growing Grid/CleanTech startup on a mission to accelerate global electrification and decarbonization. We are building a vertical SaaS platform for electricity utilities, enabling them to modernize grid operations and unlock transformational capabilities such as dynamic operating envelopes and flexible interconnections. The Opportunity:


As a Lead/Senior Power Engineering Consultant at Gridsight, you will play a hybrid role blending technical consulting and solution delivery. You’ll be at the forefront of deploying and optimizing our platform with utility customers - ensuring development and delivery of maximum value, while also advancing our thought-leadership in the industry. This is a unique opportunity to join a rapidly scaling, venture-backed company in the power industry. 


In this position you will serve as an internal subject matter expert in power systems engineering and a key technical sales resource for our customers. You will spearhead the configuration, deployment, and successful adoption of Gridsight’s AI-powered platform, guiding utility teams as they transition to Gridsight-driven workflows. Leveraging your deep power engineering knowledge, you’ll advise on best practices and collaborate cross-functionally to push the boundaries of grid modernization.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Advanced Power Engineering Expertise
    • Serve as an in-house subject matter expert on power distribution systems 
    • Provide engineering guidance to customer teams transitioning to Gridsight-powered workflows, ensuring that technical implementations are robust, compliant, and future-proof.
  • Customer Support and Sales Enablement 
    • Develop and deliver engaging training sessions, workshops, and user guides to empower customer teams in effectively utilizing Gridsight’s platform.
    • Provide ongoing platform technical support, troubleshooting complex issues, and coordinating with engineering teams to resolve critical escalations.
    • Foster long-term customer relationships by proactively monitoring platform usage, offering optimization strategies, and ensuring high levels of satisfaction.
    • Represent Gridsight on customer calls, providing technical expertise as the Subject Matter Expert
    • Leveraging your technical expertise, support the team in putting together RFIs, RFPs and applying for various programs.
  • Implementation & Technical Onboarding
    • Lead the end-to-end technical onboarding process for new utility customers, ensuring seamless deployment and configuration of Gridsight’s platform.
    • Work with customers to understand their specific operational and regulatory requirements, customizing workflows and integrations to meet their needs.
    • Oversee data migration, integration with third-party systems, and performance monitoring for smooth day-to-day operation.
  • Solution Customization & Continuous Improvement
    • Collaborate with internal product and engineering teams to refine existing features and develop new functionalities, aligning them with market and customer needs.
    • Advise customers on best practices for data management, analytics, and workflow optimization 
    • Identify opportunities for additional value-add services or product enhancements based on customer feedback and evolving grid modernization requirements.
  • Thought Leadership & Market Engagement
    • Represent Gridsight in industry working groups, conferences, and customer-facing webinars to showcase our solutions and share industry best practices.
    • Co-present case studies and research findings, elevating Gridsight’s profile as a leader in grid flexibility, orchestration, and AI-driven power systems analytics.
    • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior utility stakeholders, influencing their grid modernization strategies and demonstrating the ROI of adopting Gridsight’s solutions.

Qualifications:

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • 5 - 10 years of experience in power systems engineering, distribution planning, or a related field within utilities or energy technology
    • Demonstrated success in project management within the utilities or energy.
    • Hands-on experience with advanced power system modeling tools (e.g., PowerFactory, CYME, PSS/E) and cloud-based SaaS technologies (AWS, Azure) is a plus.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong expertise in distribution system planning or DER integration with system integration, APIs, data management, and scripting languages (e.g., Python, SQL) for data processing.
    • Understanding of emerging trends in energy markets.
    • Knowledge of AI/ML applications in power systems is advantageous.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, capable of interfacing with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Customer-focused mindset with the ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
    • Proven problem-solving abilities and a self-starter mentality, comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment.
    • Effective project management skills, with a track record of coordinating cross-functional teams and ensuring on-time, high-quality deliverables.
