Head of Forward Deployed Solutions
Background and Overview
Growth Signals is hiring a hands‑on Head of Forward Deployed Software Solutions to lead our customer‑embedded engineering function and contribute directly to the delivery of full‑stack, LLM‑powered solutions for enterprise customers. In this role, you will guide and grow a team of Forward Deployed Software Engineers and Forward Deployed Data Scientists while remaining deeply technical—grasping client infrastructures, writing production code, and shaping how our GenAI platform is deployed and extended in customer environments.
As the leader of Forward Deployed Solutions, you will ensure customers realize meaningful value from our platform by overseeing technical delivery, driving solution quality, and partnering closely with Engineering, Product, Sales, and Customer Success. You will establish the standards, frameworks, and best practices that enable scalable, repeatable deployments while providing the technical leadership needed to solve the most challenging customer problems. This role combines strategic oversight with hands‑on impact, making it ideal for a leader who thrives at the intersection of engineering excellence and real‑world customer outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team of Forward Deployed Software Engineers and Data Scientists.
- Establish delivery standards, best practices, and technical guidelines.
- Oversee all customer engagements from requirements to deployment.
- Ensure delivery of secure, scalable, reliable full‑stack solutions.
- Serve as an escalation point for complex technical and customer issues.
- Maintain consistency in engineering quality and deployment readiness.
- Partner with Sales, Customer Success, Engineering, and Product teams.
- Drive alignment on deployment timelines, feature requirements, and integration needs.
- Capture customer insights and relay them to Product and Engineering.
- Define KPIs for deployment velocity, customer satisfaction, and team productivity.
- Implement delivery processes, documentation standards, and quality controls.
- Ensure adherence to enterprise security, compliance, and deployment practices.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years software engineering experience;
- 3+ years technical leadership or solutions management.
- Proven experience delivering and deploying on-prem or cloud-based systems.
- Strong background in UI design, service architecture, and cloud deployment.
- Experience working with enterprise customers in a technical, customer-facing role.
- Familiarity with LLMs, GenAI workflows, and MCP preferred.
- Ability to lead teams in fast-paced, early-stage environments.
- Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel up to 50% for onsite customer work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building or scaling Forward Deployed Engineering, Solutions Engineering, Customer Engineering, or Professional Services teams.
- Experience working with secure or regulated environments (finance, healthcare, public sector) and understanding related compliance constraints.
- Strong data engineering fundamentals, including data modeling and ETL/ELT pipelines.
- Experience with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) architectures, vector databases, and semantic search systems.
- Background in startup or seed‑stage environments, comfortable operating with speed, ambiguity, and evolving processes.
