The Maui County Island Manager is responsible for all aspects of the Girl Scouts membership for Maui County (Maui, Molokai, Lanai). This position is responsible for 

successfully driving the volunteer training and support to current Troops, recruitment of new 

Girl Scouts, delivering programs & camps, and overseeing delivery of our Afterschool Leadership Program. The Maui County Island Manager is responsible for executing volunteer engagement strategies such as delivery of high-quality volunteer trainings, managing volunteer roles, and other community opportunities to build relationships that grow our Girl Scout membership. Responsibilities also include managing customer service for members questions, issues, and assistance.     This position requires routine management and maintenance of the Girl Scout Camp Property – Camp Pi’iholo and the Maui Girl Scout office. The Maui County Island Manager’s duties also include communications and delivery of key information to all Girl Scouts of Hawaii members throughout Maui County. 

This position may require work on nights and weekends as needed. Including overnight camp leadership 2-4 times a year. Occasional travel to Oahu for special programs and events may be required. Participation in major Council Events as required. Starting salary may be negotiated based on experience. The ideal candidate will have strong local network connections throughout Maui County, with a go-getter mission focused attitude towards their work. 

Job Responsibilities

1. 

Managing Maui Girl Scout membership goals to include girl and adult annual memberships. Implement key membership campaigns throughout the year to reach and exceed membership goals.  Creating and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders (schools, community organizations, religious institutions, etc.) to maintain recruitment efforts yearlong.  

2. 

Building relationships that retain our Girl Scout members.  Train and support volunteers to create Girl Scout troops throughout the county of Maui. Ensures that all required trainings are up to date and volunteers have received all necessary training. 

3. 

Plan and execute Girl Scout programs and events throughout the year to support Girl Scouts and Girl Scout Troops. Facilitate badge and patch programs for the Girl Scouts of Maui County. 

4. 

Manage all aspects of the Afterschool Leadership Program on the island of Maui. Includes hiring, coaching, training, and assisting afterschool advisors to execute 

 

Girl Scout troops within key designated title 1 schools. Also responsible for creating and maintaining relationships with school administrators to continue the programs annually. Support may include in-person and virtual troop leadership and program delivery. Support includes supporting ASLP troop participation in the Girl Scout Cookie Program. 

5. 

Manage communication of crucial information to all members of the County of Maui. Strategize, plan, create, and distribute all communications to members throughout the year with the goal to increase membership engagement. 

6. 

Provides ongoing support, supervision, and direction to troop volunteers by interpreting Girl Scouts of the USA and council policies, standards, and procedures and by directing volunteers to additional support services. 

7. 

Identifies the need for and provides timely problem solving and conflict resolution support/intervention when appropriate.     Coordinates the availability of support services using technology platforms to enable volunteers to carry out the responsibilities of their positions effectively. 

8. 

Manages and maintains Girl Scouts Properties including the Girl Scout Office and Girl Scout Camp – Camp Pi’iholo. Responsibilities include property management relating to Checking Groups in and Out of the Camp Pi`iholo property, sight inspections, and general property oversight.     Responsible for the order and cleanliness, scheduling of required maintenance, ensuring a safe and secure space for girl and adult members.  

9. 

All other responsibilities and duties as assigned. 

Job Qualifications:   

Education 

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or 4 years equivalent experience in related field such as: communications, nonprofit management, marketing, community development, volunteer engagement and support. Preference to candidates with Girl Scout experience, but not required. 

Experience 

  • Sales and goal-driven with growth by innovation mindset. 
  • Highly organized with excellent written and verbal communication skills.  
  • Proven time management and prioritization skills. 
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships. 
  • Proven success in setting expectations and maintaining accountabilities. 
  • Ability to work independently and with a diverse team. 
  • Passionate about outdoor education. Preference for candidates with outdoor experience and skills with the ability and desire to teach others key components of outdoor education. Training will be provided. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, social media, and ability to learn proprietary software with a preference for candidates with Salesforce experience. 

Licenses/Certifications 

  • Personal vehicle, valid driver’s license, and current insurance.
