About Stratus:
Stratus is the leading cloud-based platform for MEP contractors. We’re on a mission to revolutionize the construction industry by providing innovative data driven solutions that seamlessly layer across a contractor’s entire workflow from design, to fabrication, to installation. Our tools optimize electrical, piping, plumbing, and sheet metal workflows with data-driven automation, making construction more efficient and connected.
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior UX/UI Designer to help elevate the usability, aesthetics, and overall user experience of our software products. You’ll work closely with Product Managers, Engineers, and Customers to design intuitive, efficient, and visually compelling interfaces that streamline complex construction workflows. This role is ideal for someone experienced in designing for technical B2B applications, confident in translating real-world user needs into digital solutions, and excited to leverage the latest AI-powered design and prototyping tools to accelerate and improve the design process.
Key Responsibilities
- User Experience & UI Design:
- Design intuitive, user-centered interfaces for Stratus applications, ensuring a seamless experience across complex workflows.
- Develop wireframes, mockups, and high-fidelity prototypes in Figma, enhanced by AI-powered tools (e.g., Figma Make, Claude prototypes, or similar) to accelerate iteration.
- Conduct user research and analyze feedback to refine workflows, navigation, and usability.
- Maintain and evolve our design system and component libraries for consistency and scalability.
- Prototyping & Collaboration:
- Create interactive prototypes (Figma and AI-driven tools) to visualize features and workflows for internal teams and customers.
- Partner with Product Managers to translate business and user requirements into design solutions.
- Collaborate with Engineers to ensure designs are feasible, well-documented, and implemented as intended.
- User Research & Usability Testing:
- Conduct interviews, surveys, and usability tests to validate design decisions.
- Identify pain points and opportunities for UX improvements, using AI-assisted analysis tools when appropriate.
- Stay current on UI/UX best practices, accessibility standards, and emerging technologies— including AI-driven design workflows.
What You’ll Bring
- 5+ years of experience in UX/UI design, ideally for B2B, SaaS, or technical software.
- Proficiency in Figma for design, prototyping, and design system management.
- Experience with AI-assisted design tools (e.g., Figma AI features, Claude for concept prototyping, or similar).
- Strong knowledge of user-centered design principles, usability heuristics, and accessibility best practices.
- Ability to balance aesthetics with functionality, creating designs that are both elegant and practical.
- Experience working in Agile environments, collaborating closely with Product and Engineering teams.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly explain design decisions and advocate for the user experience.
Bonus Points
- Experience designing for construction tech, MEP workflows, or industrial applications.
- Familiarity with front-end frameworks, HTML, or CSS (helpful, but not required).
- Knowledge of usability testing platforms such as Maze, Lookback, or Hotjar.
- Experience managing and scaling design systems in Figma.
- Interest in exploring generative design, AI-driven usability testing, or conversational prototyping.
Why Join Us?
- Work on impactful products that improve how contractors and fabricators operate.
- Shape the UX/UI vision for an industry-leading construction technology platform.
- Leverage cutting-edge AI design tools to stay ahead of the curve in product design.
- Join a collaborative, fast-paced team that values design-driven innovation.
