Transmission Line Engineer

The company specializes in Oil and Gas surface facilities design and engineering to include; multi-well site design, central processing facilities, full field development and optimization, and federal, state, and local regulatory compliance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop high-voltage overhead and underground transmission line systems (69kV – 500kV+)
  • Perform structural, electrical, and mechanical analysis of transmission lines including conductor selection, pole/tower design, sag/tension calculations, and line clearances
  • Design and develop medium-voltage (34.5kV, 46kV) overhead and underground line systems, especially for renewable energy facilities
  • Prepare engineering drawings, material lists, and technical specifications
  • Conduct route selection studies, cost estimates, and feasibility analyses
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations (NESC, IEEE, ANSI, ASCE, local utility requirements)
  • Support permitting, environmental studies, and right-of-way acquisition
  • Collaborate with project managers, construction crews, and contractors during design, procurement, and construction phases
  • Conduct site visits to support construction, resolve technical issues, and ensure quality control
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of emerging transmission line technologies, materials, and best practices
  • Provide technical support and mentorship to junior engineers and designers

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil, or Structural Engineering
  • Preferred Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe
  • 3–7+ years of experience in transmission line design and engineering
  • Proficiency in industry software (PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, PLS-TOWER, AutoCAD, or similar)
  • Strong understanding of NESC, IEEE, ASCE, and utility design standards
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and project management skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with cross-functional teams
  • Remote Work Requirement: Candidates must have access to a reliable high-speed internet connection with a minimum download speed of 500 Mbps to support video conferencing, large file transfers, and other bandwidth-intensive tasks essential for remote collaboration
