The Fundraiser Specialist manages client relationships, providing expert advice, processing filings, and guiding clients through complex requirements. As a Subject Matter Expert (SME), you’ll ensure clients achieve their fundraising goals and receive the best possible outcomes. Your performance is tied to client success, loyalty, and growth, including meeting deadlines, delivering high-quality work, and identifying opportunities to upsell additional services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Client Relationship Management:
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients, maintaining strong and trusting relationships.
    • Provide timely and expert guidance on fundraising services, filing processes, and state-specific requirements.
    • Handle client questions, concerns, and escalations in a professional and empathetic manner.
  • File Preparation & Support:
    • Accurately prepare, proofread, and file applications, ensuring a 95% or greater proofing success rate.
    • Independently research state-specific filing requirements and address any client questions or concerns related to these requirements.
    • Ensure timely and accurate submission of all filings, including renewals and contract filings.
  • Client Retention & Growth:
    • Maintain a client retention rate of 90% or higher (gross) and 110% or higher (net).
    • Proactively identify opportunities for upselling additional services to meet client needs.
    • Demonstrate the value of additional services and help clients navigate these offerings.
  • Timeliness & Productivity:
    • Meet service level agreements (SLAs) for client response time, on-time filing, and timely submission of renewals.
    • Ensure on-time filing rate of 90% or higher with a minimum of 1,100 successful filings per year.
  • Communication & Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with team members, keeping them informed of any client issues or at-risk situations.
  • Research & Training:
    • Continuously research and stay up to date on state-specific policies and filing requirements.
    • Contribute to maintaining and updating internal documentation, including the reference data.
    • Complete all training requirements in a timely manner and maintain an intermediate understanding of all company products and services.

Key Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or GED required; college degree preferred.
  • Experience:
    • 1-3 years of work experience, preferably in customer service, sales, or a customer-facing role.
    • Demonstrated success in highly detailed or complex roles (e.g., executive assistance, accounting, banking, insurance, medical data, or operations).
    • Prior experience working with large B2B accounts ($100k+) or high-net-worth individuals ($1M+ in liquid assets) is a plus.
    • Experience in fundraising or charity registration is a plus.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, CRM systems, and video conferencing tools.

Compensation: 

Harbor Compliance’s base salary range for this role is listed below. Compensation at the time of offer is based on factors such as skill set, experience, qualifications, and work location. Salary is one part of Harbor Compliance’s total compensation package. Other benefits may include health benefits, flexible paid time off, parental leave, fertility and adoption assistance, 401(k), and educational reimbursement. Note that the salary range and benefits apply only to U.S.-based candidates.


Harbor Compliance base salary range for this role in the U.S. is:

(Salary range $45,000 - $55,000). Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary bonuses or commission payments.
