About the role

Harness is on the lookout for an exceptional individual to steer our financial helm as the Senior Director of Finance. This combines strategic financial leadership with rigorous financial management, making you the cornerstone of our financial operations.

What you'll do

Strategic Financial Oversight & Management:

• Architect and refine financial strategies in collaboration with department leads, aligning with our overarching business objectives.

• Manage all financial transactions, from accounts payable/receivable to general ledger operations, upholding the principles of integrity and compliance.

• Spearhead the development of financial models and reporting systems, enhancing strategic decision-making and operational efficiency.

Financial Planning, Reporting, and Compliance:

• Lead the budgeting process and financial forecasting, providing actionable insights for strategic planning.

• Produce accurate and timely financial statements, ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulatory standards.

• Establish robust internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance, leading the company through financial audits and continuously improving financial processes.

Strategic Initiatives & Collaboration:

• Direct cross-functional teams in strategic initiatives, from market expansions to product launches, assessing their impact and feasibility.

• Foster a collaborative environment between the finance department and other areas, ensuring financial strategies are integrated company-wide.

• Effectively communicate financial insights and strategies, driving consensus and influencing key decisions among leaders and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.

• MBA or Master’s degree in Finance or Accounting preferred.

• CPA is not a requirement, but preferred.

• 10+ years of managerial accounting and financial management experience.

• Previous audit experience.

• GAAP technical accounting knowledge with an emphasis on software-as-a-service (SaaS) revenue recognition accounting and software/content capitalization.

• Familiarity with relevant SaaS valuation metrics, including recurring revenue (MRR/ARR), lifetime value (LTV), customer acquisition cost (CAC), and net dollar retention (NDR.

• Advanced financial modeling skills, primarily Excel.

• Passion to work in a startup environment and willingness to roll up sleeves and build a world-class department.
