Role Overview

·      The Quality Improvement Medical Assistant works closely with, other members of the quality team, the providers and other health care professionals to ensure quality measures are being completed at patient visits and patient follow-ups are completed in a timely manner. Qualified candidates must be proficient with electronic health records and have strong team building and communication skills. Responsibilities include updating patient charts and other electronic medical records, conducting quality prepping of patient charts, auditing status of patient care records and following up as needed, completing audits of patient questionnaires, and reviewing patient tobacco screenings and completing any additional required follow-up. The successful candidate will be actively engaged as a member of the quality improvement team collecting data to ensure a delivery of high quality of care.

Key Responsibilities

·      Participate as a member of the quality improvement team to ensure high quality patient care.

·      Present a positive and professional image in interactions with co-workers and the public.

·      Maintain confidentiality in accordance with health center policies and procedures.

·      Review quality metrics to determine whether a patient is due for a screening for any prior diagnosed condition and/or annual diagnostic testing.

·      Audit status of patient care records per spreadsheet of patient care to determine whether required and/or recommended diagnostic testing such as for diabetes, hypertension, cervical cancer, and breast cancer have been completed.

·      When auditing patient records, follow-up with a phone call to each patient who requires an appointment or a referral to complete recommended diagnostic testing and schedule any necessary appointments.

·      Print patient questionnaires and med lists for individuals with upcoming appointments in the medical and behavioral health departments.

·      Complete weekly audits of patient questionnaires to ensure MAs complete all necessary updates to tobacco and depression screenings and medication lists.

·      Upon reviewing tobacco screenings, reaches out to patients who stated that they wanted to quit but have not yet been referred for tobacco cessation services and refers them to the appropriate service.

·      Reconcile Behavioral Health medication lists to ensure accurate documentation of patients’ current medications.

·      All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education

·      High School diploma or GED equivalent

Experience

·      Preferred: 1 year experience as medical assistant in an outpatient setting and/or specialty area

Certifications

·      Medical Assistant Program certificate preferred but will train the right candidate

·      BLS Certification (Preferred but not required)

Skills

·      Knowledge of medical terminology

·      Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·      Excel experience

·      Positive team-oriented individual with great attention to patient care and detail oriented

Job Type

·      Full Time

Compensation

·      Starting at $17-$19 per hour, negotiable based on experience and qualifications

Work Setting

·      In person with the potential for limited remote work
