About the role

 

Are you ready to illuminate your career with a dynamic and innovative team? We are seeking a skilled IT Support Specialist to join our Information Technology team. The ideal candidate will provide technical support and expertise in managing and troubleshooting MS Windows and Linux systems, as well as maintaining and configuring network infrastructure. This role will ensure the smooth operation of IT systems and provide exceptional support to end-users. Are you passionate about making technology work for others? Key Details

  • Work Days and Hours: Our normal working hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday-Friday. Employees can work with their supervisor to have some flexibility in their schedule. Standard office environment with occasional after-hours or on-call support.
  • Location: This is a full-time position located in Addison, TX.
  • Compensation: Based on qualifications and comprehensive benefits package.
  • Work Eligibility: Must be authorized to work in the United States.

What you'll do

  • Provide technical support for MS Windows and Linux-based systems, including installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network-related issues for desktops, laptops, and servers.
  • Manage and maintain network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
  • Monitor network performance and ensure system availability and reliability.
  • Assist with user account management, including Active Directory and Linux user administration.
  • Perform routine system updates, patches, and backups to ensure security and functionality.
  • Respond to helpdesk tickets and provide timely resolution to IT-related issues.
  • Document technical processes, configurations, and troubleshooting steps for future reference.
  • Collaborate with IT team members to implement new systems and technologies.
  • Train end-users on basic software and hardware usage as needed.
  • May require lifting and moving of computer equipment (up to 50 lbs).

What will make you successful in this role (skills)?


Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in IT support, with hands-on expertise in MS Windows and Linux environments.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in MS Windows operating systems (Windows 10/11, Windows Server 2016/2019/2022).
    • Strong knowledge of Linux distributions (e.g., Ubuntu, CentOS, or Red Hat) and command-line administration.
    • Experience with networking protocols and technologies (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLANs).
    • Familiarity with network hardware (Cisco, Juniper, or equivalent) and troubleshooting tools (e.g., Wireshark, Ping, Traceroute).
    • Understanding of Active Directory, Group Policy, and LDAP.
    • Knowledge of virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) is a plus.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Strong communication and customer service skills to interact with end-users.
    • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of virtualization platforms (Hyper-V, Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
  • Certifications (preferred but not required):
    • CompTIA A+, Network+, or Security+
    • Microsoft Certified: Windows Server or Azure Administrator
    • Linux Professional Institute Certification (LPIC) or Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
    • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
