Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - School-Based Pediatric Care

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide one-on-one care for a young child with significant medical needs in a school setting. This role includes transportation support, personal care, and medical oversight throughout the school day.

Position Details:

  • Schedule: Approximately 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday
  • Start Date: January 6th
  • Location: Based in the Kalamazoo area, supporting a student attending a nearby educational program.
  • Program: Year-round school schedule with two, two-week breaks during the summer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ride the bus with the student to and from school, ensuring safety and addressing medical needs during transit.
  • Administer and manage medications, including daily and rescue medications as prescribed.
  • Provide personal care, including feeding assistance, diaper changes, and general hygiene.
  • Monitor for potential medical emergencies, such as respiratory distress or adrenal crises, and respond appropriately.
  • Prepare and manage feeding needs, including formula and enzyme administration.
  • Accompany the student during activities such as classroom learning and outdoor recess (if applicable).
  • Maintain communication with family members and school staff to ensure consistent care and support.

Qualifications:

  • Active LPN license in the state of Michigan.
  • Experience with pediatric care and complex medical conditions preferred.
  • Comfortable with medication administration and emergency response protocols.
  • Ability to provide compassionate, patient-centered care in a school environment.
