About the role

An Occupational Therapist is responsible for providing patients with treatment to help them develop and improve their ability to complete everyday tasks related to their job and daily life. Their duties include performing initial patient assessments, teaching patients to use adaptive technology, and coaching them through therapeutic activities.

What you'll do

  • Provide high-quality online occupational therapy services to students according to the student's IEPs.

  • Conduct evaluations and reevaluations as determined by the special education department.

  • Develop treatment plans that are strength-based as well as child and family-centered.

  • Provide services that include but are not limited to academic performance, fine and gross motor functioning, positioning, daily living skills, play/leisure skills, work skills, and sensory-motor activities.

  • Consult with teachers, other therapists, support staff, and families to facilitate classroom or home mobility and participation.

  • Develop, monitor, and report on goals; determine needs, design interventions utilizing research-based best practices.

  • Provide clear clinical documentation in our platform that supports the progress and growth of students toward their documented goals.

  • Participate in IEP meets and other meetings as needed. 

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Masters degree in Occupational therapy

  • Active state licensure where residing and where performing teletherapy services

  • State and Federal requirements for working in a school setting (FBI background check, Dept of Education Certification- if required by state)

  • Teletherapy experience - preferred

  • Two years of experience working in a school setting preferred

  • NPI Number - preferred (we will assist in helping you apply)


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Excellent Technology & Computer proficiency, including the ability to learn new digital platforms.

  • Reliable Wi-Fi/Internet access.

  • Distraction-free work environment. 

  • Knowledge and experience with Special Education Services and support to include writing PLOPs, IEP Goals, and determination of appropriate services and accommodations as part of the IEP team.

  • Knowledge & experience in administering evaluations prefer experience in virtual administration.

  • Excellent written and oral communication including the ability to independently draft professional documentation as part of the evaluation and IEP process.

  • Flexibility and adaptability in day-to-day operations.


Working Conditions / Physical Requirements: 

  • Manual dexterity to operate a telephone and enter data into a computer. 

  • Facility to sit at a desk, conference table, or in meetings of various configurations for extended periods of time with or without reasonable accommodation. 

  • Facility to see and read, with or without visual aids, laws and codes, rules, policies, and other printed matter, and computer screens and printouts with or without reasonable accommodation. 

  • Facility to hear and understand speech at normal room levels and to hear and understand speech on the telephone with or without reasonable accommodation. 

  • Facility to speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal conversations, in training sessions, and in other meetings with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Mental Demands: Ability to foster collaborative relationships, work well under pressure, organize and synthesize new information, and prioritize tasks.

Compensation

Starting pay is determined based on experience, qualifications and the state in which service is received.

  • Hourly pay ranges from $45-$55 per hour
