Job Summary
The Senior Project Developer role is responsible for supporting the Senior Vice President of Project Development in developing projects, budgetary, financial, regulatory, and technical aspects of project development. Additionally, this role will support the development and execution of solar projects.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Identify potential sites for solar projects through market analysis and site evaluation.
- Create workable, economically sound new and ongoing solar projects.
- Conduct feasibility studies, including site assessments, resource analysis, and preliminary design evaluations.
- Support the permitting process by preparing documentation, applications, and submissions required for regulatory approvals.
- Collaborate with Regulatory Specialists to ensure compliance with environmental, zoning, and permitting requirements.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to support project progression and resolve issues.
- Assist in financial modeling and analysis to evaluate project economics, including cost estimation, revenue forecasts, and return on investment calculations.
- Support in securing financing options by preparing financial reports and assisting in negotiations with investors or financial institutions.
- Review and assist in the preparation of contracts and agreements related to project development.
- Support project management activities by coordinating project schedules, milestones, and deliverables.
- Prepare progress reports, presentations, and documentation for internal stakeholders and management.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- BESS experience preferred
- Minimum of five (5) years of solar or renewable energy project development experience.
- Demonstrated success bringing solar projects from greenfield through to NTP.
Skills and Qualifications:
- High proficiency in MS Office programs.
- Preferably knowledge of geographic information systems, such as Shape files, ArcGIS, QGIS, preferably experience with renewable energy design software.
- Deep understanding of regulatory processes, permitting requirements, and environmental compliance in the renewable energy sector.
- Excellent communication & negotiation skills to engage with diverse stakeholders and landowners. Present findings and collaborate effectively within a team.
- Proficiency in project management tools and software for scheduling, documentation, and reporting.
Working Conditions:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period. Moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic).
