Job Summary

The Operations Technician’s main responsibility is the safe and efficient execution of the MCB Camp Lejeune’s (Jacksonville NC) repowering work, as well as performing operations & maintenance duties for the solar facilities across hep’s operational portfolio.

Duties/Responsibilities: 
  • Repowering of PV systems – This will include demolition of old equipment and wiring thereof, fabrication of structural mounting hardware, installation of new equipment (Inverters, Panelboards, Circuit Breakers, Wiring) and commissioning processes.
  • Maintain a safety-conscious workflow - practice Lock Out Tag Out procedures, keeping clear and thorough communication while working near energized equipment.
  • Perform repowering preventative maintenance activities to ensure optimal performance of all mechanical and electrical components. Clean and replace filters, torque fasteners, perform routine inspections.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives. 
  • Monitor the real-time operation and performance of all utility and commercial scale generation assets.
  • Respond to and evaluate system alarms, emergencies, and irregularities, in accordance with safety practices.
  • Analyze data from the solar facilities to identify underperforming assets and means to improve performance.
  • Monitor the quality and accuracy of communications systems and real-time telemetered generation data, and appropriately respond to errors in data flow and alarms.
  • Configure monitoring software for most effective use.
  • Provide remote monitoring of sites.
  • Communicate effectively with client and third-party vendors and actively participate in meeting reviews to provide technical feedback of field operations. 
 
Education and Experience: 
  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associates degree or technical certification in related technical field (preferred). 
Skills and Qualifications:
  • OSHA 10 Certification required, OSHA 30 preferred.
  • First Aid/CPR Certification required.
  • Aerial Lift Certification required.
  • Ability to pass a background check to receive security clearance for access to MCB Camp Lejeune is required.
  • Solar operations and/or construction experience (preferred).
  • Electrical and mechanical experience preferred, willingness to learn is a must.
 
Working Conditions:
This job is a field-based role that operates on solar sites in remote locations. There will be times of moderate noise. This role is subject to field conditions such as weather, including heat, cold, and rain.
 
Travel Requirements:
Frequent travel required.

The pay range for this role is:

23 - 30 USD per hour (US - NC - Huntersville)
