About the Client

Our client is a senior executive within the landscaping and construction industry, overseeing both personal and business financial operations. The company is in the midst of a system conversion and is seeking a reliable and tech-savvy accountant to manage both executive-level books and support company-wide accounting projects.


Role Overview

We are looking for a Staff Accountant with experience supporting C-level executives and managing accounting for small entities (e.g., LLCs, family trusts), while also contributing to high-impact company projects. This role involves a blend of personal bookkeeping, general accounting duties, and special project support—particularly during an ongoing accounting system migration.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, self-driven, and comfortable navigating unstructured environments while building streamlined processes from scratch.


Key Responsibilities

Executive Support:

  • Maintain accurate records for personal accounts, including LLCs and family trusts
  • Track business and personal expenses, ensuring timely categorization and reconciliation
  • Use tools like Excel and QuickBooks to produce clear reports for the executive

Company Project Support:

  • Assist with general ledger, bank reconciliations, AP/AR, and monthly financial statements
  • Support ongoing system migration (Spectrum) and identify areas for automation and efficiency
  • Contribute to financial reporting related to sales tax, job costing, and compliance
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure accurate data entry, system setup, and reporting
  • Help define best practices for document flow, file management, and internal controls

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in accounting, with at least 1 year supporting a business owner or executive
  • Solid background in GL, AP/AR, bank reconciliations, and financial reporting
  • Proven track record of supporting system migrations, accounting projects, or software implementations
  • Strong command of Excel (vlookups, pivots, formulas, and templates)
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks (Online or Desktop); experience with Spectrum or other construction/accounting software is a plus
  • Excellent English communication skills (spoken and written)
  • Strong internet connection, dual-screen setup, and ability to handle file uploads/downloads securely
