About The Role

The Night Audit position is a full-time, hourly role within the Front Desk department, responsible for overseeing the hotel’s operations during overnight hours. This role combines front desk guest services with end-of-day financial reconciliation and reporting. The Night Auditor ensures that all daily transactions are accurately posted and balanced, the property management system is prepared for the next day, and guests receive responsive, courteous service throughout the night. This position is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, comfortable working independently, and able to maintain a calm and professional presence during late-night and early-morning shifts.


What You'll Do

  • Perform nightly audit procedures, including balancing and reconciling daily financial transactions for rooms, food and beverage, and other hotel revenue centers.
  • Review and verify all front office postings and correct any discrepancies before closing the day.
  • Prepare, generate, and distribute required nightly reports for management, accounting, and other relevant departments.
  • Check guests in and out in accordance with hotel standards, ensuring accurate information and payment methods are recorded.
  • Respond to guest inquiries, requests, and complaints in a timely, professional, and courteous manner throughout the night.
  • Monitor property security by observing activity in the lobby and public areas, following safety and emergency procedures as needed.
  • Handle reservations, cancellations, and modifications using the property management system.
  • Process payments, including cash handling, credit card transactions, and posting of charges and adjustments.
  • Reconcile cash drawers and ensure cash, credit, and other payment methods balance at the end of the shift.
  • Complete end-of-day procedures in the property management system and roll the date to prepare for the next business day.
  • Coordinate with housekeeping and maintenance to address room status updates, work orders, and any urgent issues that arise overnight.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming front desk and lobby environment during overnight hours.
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and brand standards related to guest service, cash handling, and data security.
  • Assist with occasional setup or preparation for early-morning groups, events, or tour arrivals as required.


Qualifications

  • Previous hotel front desk, night audit, or similar customer service experience preferred.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and ability to work comfortably with numbers and financial data.
  • Proficiency with computers and the ability to learn property management and reservation systems.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to handle guest issues professionally, with patience and problem-solving skills, especially in a low-supervision environment.
  • Comfortable working overnight shifts, including weekends and holidays, on a consistent schedule.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal direct supervision.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform light physical tasks such as lifting, pulling, or carrying up to [X] lbs (as applicable).
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or hospitality training is a plus.
  • Must meet all local legal requirements for employment, including authorization to work and any applicable background checks.

The pay range for this role is:

17 - 17 USD per hour (Hilton Garden Inn Billings)
