Position Overview:
Helping Hand for Relief and Development (HHRD) is seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Policy and Advocacy Associate to lead its policy and advocacy efforts. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in advocacy and policy work, with the ability to independently drive initiatives across multiple issue areas. This role will involve regular engagement with congressional ofIices, government agencies, and civil society stakeholders. Occasional travel may be required. A strong commitment to HHRD’s faith- based vision, mission, and values is essential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead all aspects of congressional advocacy, including scheduling, preparing agendas, and managing follow-up for meetings with congressional ofIices.
  • Coordinate and lead meetings with government agencies, partners, and other key stakeholders.
  • Engage with partners, donors, community members, and policy professionals to advance HHRD’s advocacy and policy objectives.
  • Represent HHRD at public forums, conferences, and events related to policy advocacy.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across the community and partner organizations.
  • Draft reports, white papers, policy briefs, talking points, and other internal and external communications.
  • Regularly brief HHRD leadership and staff on policy initiatives and advocacy efforts.
  • Conduct thorough research on key policy areas and stakeholders to support
    advocacy initiatives.
  • Track and analyze policy developments relevant to HHRD’s advocacy goals.
  • Develop and implement policy and advocacy campaigns, as well as partnerships and
    outreach strategies to support these campaigns.
  • Participate in organizational events, retreats, and conferences, and contribute to
    internal projects.
  • Support the development and execution of HHRD’s annual policy and advocacy
    agenda and goals.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Work Schedule and Requirements:

  • Work from the ofIice 2-3 days per week as part of the hybrid work schedule.
  • Be available to attend evening and weekend events as required to support HHRD’s advocacy and communication efforts.
  • Some travel may be required for meetings, events, and organizational initiatives.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant Iield required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in a related Iield, such as congressional or state
    legislative work, policy advocacy, or lobbying.
  • Strong understanding of federal policy and legislative processes, particularly as they
    pertain to international NGOs.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills, including public
    speaking.
  • ProIiciency in MS OfIice Suite and familiarity with policy software and web-based
    advocacy tools.
  • Ability to produce high-quality written materials and manage multiple projects with
    competing deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, judgment, and the ability to build relationships with
    high-level stakeholders.
    Preferred Skills:
  • Experience in networking with high-level individuals and organizations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into
    actionable advocacy strategies.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • ProIiciency with Bloomberg Government and other policy tracking tools.
