Assistant Facility Director

Helping Hands provides HOPE and CARE through personal, trauma-informed programs to individuals experiencing homelessness.


Our programs are Trauma-Informed, Data-Driven, and Person-Centered. We take the time to learn each individual's story and help connect them to the appropriate local resources and services to meet their unique needs. We do not duplicate available services; instead, we build strong collaborative partnerships with local programs and foster connections between participants and our community partners.  


Overall Purpose of this role:

We are looking to make an addition to our team at Bybee Lakes Hope Center in the form of an Assistant Facility Director who will help ensure smooth operations of our facility.

 

The individual chosen for this role will work side-by-side with the Facility Director to ensure we are bringing the best we can to those facing homelessness. You will be managing people and vendors to ensure we stay at the top of our game while interacting with our participants and the community to build relationships and gain feedback.

 

Experience working in a nonprofit organization and/or with the homeless or addicted is a huge plus. 


The right individual for this position has a passion for helping others, is nonjudgmental, and able to deal with difficult situations in positive and constructive ways.


Key Accountabilities:

 

Specific Job Duties

· Be a member of the facility leadership team that continually creates and improves an effective team environment, leading by example and motivating the staff.

· Ensure culturally competent, equitable, trauma-informed, and assertively engaged service delivery.

· Understand and uphold shelter community guidelines to ensure smooth shelter operation, and emotional and physical safety of our participants residing in the shelter, including their families,

  shelter volunteers, and staff. Support staff in upholding shelter guidelines as well.

· Receive and respond to participant grievances, reasonable accommodation requests, and incident reports in accordance with Helping Hands policies and procedures.

· Interface with maintenance vendors and establish a schedule of upkeep and repairs.

· Assist in manage the operational side of the facility including staff.

 

 Crisis Management –

· Consult with clients in crisis by discussing and de-escalating using trauma-informed crisis intervention.

 

Other Duties –

· Weekly rotation of on-call schedule

· De-escalation/exits

· Referral Partner Training/Tours

· Coordinate with law enforcement/emergency services

· Maintain client information in TDS (database)/Sharepoint

· Attend scheduled trainings

· As Assigned

 

Required Qualifications

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Good computer skills and phone etiquette.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, utilizing critical thinking and reasoning skills for decision-making.
  • Ability to appropriately assess a situation and take corrective action as necessary.
  • 1-2 years supervisor experience.
  • 2-3 years program/facility management experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct or Lived Experience with homelessness, addiction, and/or low-income populations.
  • Understanding of the issues surrounding homelessness, chemical dependency, domestic violence, and sexual assault

Physical/Mental Requirements

  • The physical and mental demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee, with or without accommodation, to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • Hearing and vision adequate for interaction with participants, interaction with staff, and interaction with the general public.
  • Work is primarily performed indoors, within an office setting, occasionally accompanied by moderate noise levels and exposure to scents.
  • Frequently required to sit/stand at a computer or in a stationary position.
  • Frequently operates a computer and other office productivity equipment, such as copy machine, printer, and phone.
  • Frequently required to move about within the facility for meetings, office equipment, and daily operations.
